Arizona Chickens

southerndesert, it's great to see you back! I installed adblock (it's free) on my computer and I don't get any advertisements. I turned adblock off once to see what everyone else was seeing and I was surprised at how cluttered it all looks. I think I might be less inclined to come here if I had to experience it that way too.

Mama Hen Chris, nice pics. The vintage pics of AZ chickens are doubly cool. I love that glimpse into the past. Do you have any idea what the darker colored birds might be?

Mr. Messinger wasn't in today but will ask him when I see him.

I have an incubator question. My niece is planning to get a hovabator; if you had to choose between circulated air and automatic turning, which would you select and why. My sportsman does both, and it is the only incubator I've ever had that worked. (built two and bought one of the super cheapies--waste of time, money and eggs.)

Ours have both fan and auto turn... The LG and Hova and both work equally well....almost....The Hova hold steady temps better and adding water is much easier.... Trick is to set temp DAYS before adding eggs to assure stable environment temp wise.

The Morristown biker dude is back!! Hi Southerndesert.

Hatch is done. Here are Fuzzybutt pics:

I tried really hard to do the classy baby photos, like the rest of you do....but all I got is 69 pics of squirming Ameraucanas

So you just have to take my word that they are adorable!!

Nice muffs :

And fluffy beards

Life has been busy, but tonight I am going to try and catch up here.
Fuzzy- I collected 8 eggs for you today. If the laying stays up it will be easy to get 24.

Hi and thanks for the welcome back!

Very high on the cuteness scale Bootsie!

apropos to your nomenclature, I lent my dad two full size helium tanks - the 5-1/2' tall really heavy ones...

One rolled out onto my step mom's foot (yes fractured)

So I now call her Bootsie!

And on another note:

Time to reorder bulk feed! (Weren't we just talking about this Pastry?)

Here is the link to the Google doc.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFhXdGJoSUQ1Qm5lYjk3U3hySG5FSVE6MA#gid=0

Delivery date is April 1st (no, really!) Order a 2 month supply as we do it every 2 months to insure the freshest feed!

I had an awesome day today. Went to douglas to visit friend. I took the two girls to see hama LLamas or thats what the 4 year old calls them. They also had alpacas (spelling) now the 4 year old calls them ipockas. They had a good time. We also visited some chicken people and she sent me home with some bantam RIR eggs to incubate. It was a great day!

I had an equally great day at Pastrymama's.

Got to see chickens disguised as poodles.

Got to prance barefoot through her chicken run and ask repeatedly, "What breed is this?" over and over about the same darn chickens.

If yer not in a seating chart or not wearing a name tag - I'm not going to know yer name!

Got a really good idea for a "grow out tractor"

Met the fireman who prolly gave me strep and a broken right hand. Did get to see the AWESOME cast concrete counter tops he made for Pastry. Prolly going to do that now when we remodel the kitchen.

Did NOT have to jump start Suzie!

All humor aside - Pastry has a great family & a great setup.
