Arizona Chickens

Hello All. I am brand new to the Forum and have been wanting chickens for about a month now. My wife is adamantly opposed to them, thinking they'll be the grossest, smelliest creatures on Earth. I am hoping to find someone near Peoria, Arizona that is currently raising them and has a good, fairly small setup. I would love to bring her and my girls by so that they can experience it and see they really aren't as bad as she thinks. Any takers? Any recommendations? I decided to post a new message, rather than trying to track down everyone individually. I've found a few in Mesa and Glendale, but feel like contacting them directly is sort of akin to telemarketing... Yuck. Thanks in advance! Scott

Yes, absolutely an Ender's Game fan. It was my first Sci-Fi book as a kid and I still re-read it every couple of years. It is a phenomenal series.

Both of your coops are great. I especially love the first one. It reminds me of a small lemonade shop a kid might have in the old days. Back before the government got so overrestricted that they started requiring permits for such a simply thing...

Wow, great set-up. I may have to copy from you. We will likely be building a new coop rather than using existing structures from the previous house owners. Ours may look a lot like yours.

So I have the 3 older girls that adopted our property after we moved in...the running theory is that two of them were EEs, but neither was laying. We've now had 2 eggs in the last few days and they look really white to me. Is it possible our EEs don't have much E in their E? If I look really closely and close 1 eye there may be a slight tint of green to one of the eggs. I'll post pics later of our girls and the eggs!

Yep, I agree, you should take her to see Mama Hen Chris' set-up. That could change the hearts and minds of even the most hardened anti-chicken biased.

What's this? Your three older girls just showed up on your property? Oh, you have to tell us that story! (maybe I missed it earlier?
