Arizona Chickens

I'm not sure where you are located but I'm remodeling our kitchen / living room and have a bunch of 2 x 4's (with nails) that are slated for the burn pile. They're yours if you want em.

LOL, Mikey D! We are not close enough (we're in Tucson) to easily come and get them, but I appreciate the kind offer. And I love the creativity -- anything to get chicks in here, eh? ;-) I'll talk to DH and see if we can work something out... Otherwise, it's pullets.

Please remember this is just my opinion. I would NOT order from a hatchery. I would get a few primo Silkies ( there are a few AZ members that have quality stock). I have seen it time and time again that people who HATE chickens will, eventually, fall in love with silkies. Make sure you spend a bit of time with them (get some meal worms from WalMarts fishing section) give them treats so they will come running when they see you.
Start small. Ask her to sit out with you on evenings and just watch them. It's better than a video of a fireplace. It sounds weird but it is so relaxing just sitting with coffee in the morning ( or wine in the evening) and chicken watching. JMHO?
Then , hopefully, the chicken math will kick in

I will second that on the chicken tv. All my silkies are lap babies. Wait come to think of it all our farm animals are . And I love that ! My neighbors must think im nutts with my lawn chair out in the pasture surrounded by donkeys, long horn, horse, goats, chickens

Congrats, on your "firsts" this week! They must like the cooler weather. We had a family meal tonight of French toast with eggs #2-6 that our girls laid since our first one last Friday- YUM!
