Arizona Chickens

Congratulations on the new addition. I'm not a "bird person" but I have a few friends who go crazy for their parrots and parakeets, etc. I'm starting to worry that backyard laying hens will be a gateway my husband is going to regret.... :D This forum is NOT helpful!

(And he did say absolutely NO to chicks, so if anyone can point me to a good source (in or near Tucson) of pullets or at least chicks who can go right into the outside coop (once it's built) I'd be much obliged.)

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE TODAY?
It's Friday and nobody is on here wasting their time waiting for the work day to be over! What is wrong with you people?

Seriously, like only five posts all day. I just gained back like an hour tonight when I normally would log in to read all the posts for the day.

A LOT of chickens left the property today, all with great chicken owners.

What am I still willing to give up?...ie what is still available?

The show quality, Silver Laced Wyandotte, hatched Easter last year
The sumatra, hatched Dec. 11th. Real eye candy.
1 Blue EE... Lavender Am. daddy over a Blue Ameraucana
1 feed store EE... who knows what color this one will lay.
1 leghorn hatched at Easter.
1 black banty cochin from Chooks Chicks....

Pics soon as I just got him home and settled in and we are too tired tonite!
I had a terrible combination, a beautiful African Grey, and an insane neighbor. The Grey must have been about 10 years old (at the time) and the PRIDE of the 45 unit apartment building, every one would stop on their way from the parking area to their apartments and "look in" on the grey, and talk to him. I seldom caged him, he preferred his stand, and he would fly around the room looking for better vantage points to "talk back" to the neighbors when they were "visiting."

One day one of the neighbors (the crazy one from right next door) came to ask for something, and stood there with the door open asking her question, I told her to come in or step back and close the door, but she insisted on just standing there with the door open ... and yep ... you guessed it, the African Grey took off, right out the door.

This bird had a vocabulary of well over 500 words, not rare, and was/is missed greatly. I have been looking for another that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg, to adopt ever since.

Im so glad we have this forum AZ Chickens to communication with other folks in our state. But Why dont they have a state by state For Sale set up so we dont have to sit for hours looking through all the ads that arent even near us . It would make it so much easier if they had the sales set up that way . JUST SAYIN

Sorry Billiam, I've been slacking.

We are remodeling the kitchen and living room and the wall we used for the internet cable is no more.

We have a temp fix so if I go AWOL again ya'll will know why.

2 days ago I put Hoppy in the grow out pen with the only one who will definitely not pick on her. - That silly Cochin/silkie cross.

Hopefully give her time to heal up and get strong and maybe get some sight in her eye so she can see Meow coming.
