Arizona Chickens

Sorry to hear this. People are just mean. Neighbors can suck at times. I'd keep the roo.
They should issue a penalty for people calling FALSE REPORTS!!! You know, like they hammer down on people who abuse 911? Yeah, that! Grrrr!

So how did our East Mesa friends fare last night? I have a friend that lives there that said the HEAVENS opened up and poured 2 inches of rain down within an hour! Said her neighbors AC unit was blown off her roof and the neighbor across the street had their front window blown out by that monsoon micro-burst. Hope everyone and their chickens made it through the storm.
We were at Cosco 3 miles from home and it was torrential!

Home on the other hand stayed dry.

Holy torrential rain, thunder and lightening Batman.......at least it is over here around the 51 & T-bird!

poor Ladies are all crouched and huddled together in the coop making their soft "bwaaah" noises...

Does anyone know where to get a sheet of thin tempered glass or plexiglass? I was cleaning the fridge, and while it was drying on the counter it got knocked off. I'm going to call and see about a replacement shelf, but I wonder if it might be cheaper to just have one made.

I had a cleaning service break mine. They used partselect.com to replace it. I'm assuming they shop around for lowest prices as I'm sure these types of incidents occur on not-so-rare occasion. Good luck.

I have 2 questions. At night do you all leave a light on for your chickens in the coop? Also, when you feed them cantaloupe do you leave the seeds and pulp on? :)
Kris

I only give them the seeds, pulp, and rind after I cut out fruit for us. They eat the seeds first and that is most nutritious part for them. They can grind those seeds up in their crop just fine.

Nugget popped out this gigantic egg today. This is the largest of her double yolkers. This one weighs in at 81 grams. Usually they are 71 grams.

Wow, that completely reminds me of that cartoon posted a few weeks ago where the hen is talking about having that steamy, romantic nice in Paris with the ostridge... Oh, the visuals...

We're just around the corner from you at at 109th Avenue and Deer Valley Road and had it bad, too. It was blowing so hard it blew about three feet underneath our back porch. The thunder was phenominal, too. I absolutely love the kind of weather we had last night!

Home Depot and Lowe's sell sheets of both items. It varies largely in price depending on thickness and what you are getting, but it may be cheaper than online. They will even cut it for you if you ask them, so take the exact dimensions with you. Alternately, you can use that PartSelect.Com website. They are not necessarily the cheapest around, but I have used them. They were the only site I could get all three items I needed, so it came out cheaper in the long run, compared to adding shipping rates at the others. The catch here is that they probably won't sell only the glass, so you'll end up getting the shelf frame, too.
