Arizona Chickens

Isn't that hen a gold laced? What do their offspring look like?

No, she is the black phase of the Blue Laced Red. To my eye, they look the same, but genetically they are different. The folks on the Wyandotte thread have said do NOT cross the Blue Laced Red with the Gold Laced Wyandotte, or you will mess them up. The offspring of this cross would be 50% blue and 50% black. See the chick in the very front of this photo and the one behind it stretching its head down in the feeder tray? Those are BLRW chicks. They vary a lot in color but have two indistinct stripes down the sides of their back.

Ahh ok! I love the Wyandotte fluffiness without the feet feathers so I was looking at all kinds of pictures, but I am by no means an expert. She just looked more gold laced to me. My two BLRW have just finished their molt and look so cute! They have SUPER gold and orange neck feathers though and it looks so strange to me! I wonder if they aren't pure bred? They were just breeder cast offs from a local.

I am sooooo annoyed, aggravated, frustrated and scared right now! My 20 BCM chicks have been in transit since Wed afternoon; express mail, guaranteed delivery by 3pm today. Well guess what, 3:00 has come and gone and NO chicks! and USPS can only tell me their 'in route to their destination'!!!!! There is only one truck per day coming here from Phx so that means 7AM tomorrow! and if they aren't on that truck I'm afraid they will all be dead when they arrive. ;-(

thanks for letting me vent, I'm just about to bawl.

Those chicks are so cute and pretty!
Hey what do you get if you breed a EE rooster with a Maran hen or a RIR hen?

Mutts!

I bet they will be there. Will you PO call you ? I have had theis happen and the chicks were OK. I think once they spent the week-end in the PO.

Since we have a bantam roo and a austorlpe hen, do you think I could eliminate her as having fertile eggs??? She is so much bigger..
Plus if our silkie goes broody, she is so small. How many eggs can her size hatch.. Successfully ??
Yeah mutt chicks.. Kent reallys like Mrs Robinson... Our blue Cochin...
Thank you for your help.. The "newbies"
No ! It depends on how spunky the rooster is and if the large fowl will squat for the rooster. My blue sikie rooster jumps on all of the hen he can catch. t depends on the status of their headache

an EE is a EE mutt, an OE is an OE mutt, a silkie cross is a silkie mutt, a barnyard chicken is most likely a barnyard mutt, I love mutts. Both my pure white and pure black ameraucanas are serious feather pickers as are my two blue Marans hen Most of them graduated from their pinless peppers but I can wait to introduce a big mutt rooster to them in the springtime provided they cooperate.
