Arizona Chickens

Since we have a bantam roo and a austorlpe hen, do you think I could eliminate her as having fertile eggs??? She is so much bigger..
Plus if our silkie goes broody, she is so small. How many eggs can her size hatch.. Successfully ??
Yeah mutt chicks.. Kent reallys like Mrs Robinson... Our blue Cochin...

Thank you for your help.. The "newbies"

I had a bantie roo that would jump on the backs of the standard hens and "slip it to them" on the way down.

He was the only frizzle we had and quite a few frizzle chicks hatched out.

Quote: yea, to my eye they look the same also. my Black BLRW had darker red than that. it was similar to the color of a RIR inside the black lacing. btw your roo is GORGEOUS, i didnt have any splash roos and i really wanted one. now i dont have room for one, lol. hope you find a home for them they are both beauties.

You guys crack me up!!

OK... I'm chicken crazy. I'll admit it. I've got to STAY AWAY from feed stores.

I was in Mesa, went by the feed barn there and came home with another 5 chicks. 3 EEs, a BR and a golden sex link.. and they were ALL beautiful... and my broody fit all five under her with the other five... YIKES!

The first of November I had 20 hens. Now I have 23 adults and THIRTY SEVEN chicks...

I'll be selling chickens come MAY!

i cant go there anymore. i got grounded by DH last time i brought home chicks

I bet they will be there. Will you PO call you ? I have had theis happen and the chicks were OK. I think once they spent the week-end in the PO.

Unfortunetly they were in transit from Wed afternoon until 7 this morning. They sat in a truck in Phx for nearly 24 hours! They were processed in Phx at 8 yesterday morning but sat in a truck until this morning instead of being sent straight on up like they should have been to be delivered by 3 yesterday like they were guaranteed. Out of 20 chicks only 6 were still alive and out of those 6 only 3 were actually lively and chirping; they other three are very weak tho getting better as I"m giving them ACV water every few minutes to rehydrate and get some electrolytes into them. Very very upset right now.

That is such poor service. I hope you filed a claim with the post office right away. You should be able to get your money back or a replacement shipment. I know that won't make up for the heartbreak of seeing a bunch of dead chicks in the box

maryhysong I am so sorry. Now I remember hearing another story like this one and the purchaser brought a camera to the post office opend the box at the post office and took pictures. Some one owes you another shipment of chicks.

Tucson poultry people, I am going to order another pallet from Modesto Milling before the end of the year, probably in another week or so. If anybody wants anything from them, I can add on my order. It can be as little as a bag but you MUST be able to pick up from me and pay the day the order arrives or the day after. Modesto only sells organic feed. PM me if you are interested, I don't always read this thread, and if you give me your email address, I can send you their price list. Prices change the 1st of the year--what are the chances prices will go down Ha Ha--so I'm ordering now. With shipping, the cost is less than you will pay here in town. Just to give you a ball park figure, in October I paid $28.37 for organic layer pellets, including shipping. They also sell soy-free layer. I don't tack on anything extra, what I pay is what you pay, it just helps me go through a pallet of feed faster so it doesn't get old.
