It looks great. The misters with a box fan on the ground blowing through the mist works great for my gals in the heat. I angle the fan to fit their roost at night so there is always a breeze blowing. Big lots have the fans for 15.00. Maybe they would be cheaper this time of year. I also have an area on the ground that is just dirt. I bought organic bags of dirt at Home Depot. They take dust baths in it.I'm big on recycling, repurposing material has been a way of life. My nephew dose not like it, he wants that finished refined designer look for every thing. I made my own dishes and he thought they were ugly. It is frustrating, utility has its own beauty. I was going to build my own coop, but in order to get support from my sister (she is the trustee of my a small, but wonderful trust fund, I am on SSI.) I bought one.
I made this out of left over pieces, sealed it with fiberglass, it will be the base for the coop, I have a 6'X10' kennel for a run, as it is there is little room for me to move around and clean their run.
I'm going to dig down a little under their coop for cool in the summer. I am like that mister and fan. I will have to fix something like that for my girls this spring.
Let's not even get into their own issues. We will have to talk in person bout that. But what about the dish's you made? Still have them? I hope so, & would love to see them...your coop looks great!I'm big on recycling, repurposing material has been a way of life. He has shoes for his dogs made by Nicky, and designer parkas when he lived in NYC, NY on Hanover Square. They though stuff out that I know a lot of people would love to have. It drives me nuts. I tell them to set the stuff out by the street with a sign free, but they won't because it doesn't look nice, it is junk. A 75 yr. old cake cover I rescued from the trash, old bread pan my grandmother used, and a few other things, to them I am collecting junk.

WELCOME to BYC...Thanks for the info shared here. I am new to chickens and have been wondering how we will transition our girls once the weather heats up again. Sounds like it will be lots of trial and error but I feel more confident after following some of the posts on this thread. Peace,
Welcome, I am newer to chickens also. I bought my chicks in April 2012. I have been though one summer, this is my first winter. My friend thinks buying them in spring is best so they can get used to the heat gradually and it is natural for them. She bought hers in fall. They did not get use to the heat as easy. I am not sure how true this is, just her theory. I try to make my run a fun place...LOL I have a suet small metal square metal cage thingy for feeding the birds. I hung it in my cage at beak level and fill it with lettuce for them to peck at while it swings around. It is like a tether ball. I also feed them grass clippings, we have a mulching blade so it cuts it into tiny pieces. I am trying to think of more fun stuff to put in their run. I wish they caught mice. I have a huge mice problem right now. Thanks for the info shared here. I am new to chickens and have been wondering how we will transition our girls once the weather heats up again.
