Minnie looks extra soft.. Like a cloud... That is great to know thank you.. Can't wait for one of ours to go broody... Did the other eggs start to form? Did you open them at the end?
I was on the silkie Fourm.. One family has had a blizzard where they are.. So I asked if they use anything to keep them warm
They replied " no just deep Shavings & a little insulation in the coop"
I remember ready here on our Fourm that some people would use heat lamps for their chickens... We got to 25' here in Tempe
a few weeks ago... We did nothing... But then I was thinking that it was probably someone who had baby chicks outside? Not
sure but found it interesting...
we candled them, they were duds. We did it because we thought some of them were not fertile . (They are not all her eggs)Minnie looks extra soft.. Like a cloud... That is great to know thank you.. Can't wait for one of ours to go broody...

No, sorry. Can't have a rooster.
I have a small backyard with close nieghbors. Can hens get loud? If so are there any tips to minimize it? Thanks

They are usually very quiet but can be a little noisy occasionally. Not more than a dog, though, just different. They are silent in the dark hours.
The quietest hens I have are leghorns (Ideal 236 hybrid).
I'll say all my girls; Welsummer, Buff Orpington, Easter Eggers all get loud with the egg song. What's crazy tho is I have an old Wellie roo that sings the egg song to his girls!I have a blue copper Olive Egger that is as load as any roo. Her egg song is outrageous.
