Arizona Chickens

Finally planting the rest of the garden today. I hope Baker's has some starts that I want.

I"m going to Baker's today too. :)
I don't think I'll be able to plant my garden for a few days yet, though. The valve is messed up and it's like a swamp out there. It's turned off now, but it's going to take awhile before it's ready to plant. :(

We've named the three Black Copper Maran chicks that we got from DesertMarci. Larger on the Left: Colonel Mustard, Larger on the Right: Curious Georgina, Smallest: Ninja. Ninja is just lightning fast. For such a small thing, she sure can run. Georgina has more of a yellow comb, so my wife immediately thought of Curious George. Hopefully, they are all girls, but if any are going to be roos, I hope it's this one. 'Course, their combs will change colors to the red, but whatever. The names are more to appease the wife. I can't even tell who is Christine and who is Sleepy, the two Barred Rocks we have. They are getting massive, though. There's no starving on their parts. Now, if they'd just start laying already!

I missed getting the video, but one of the new BCMs was jumping up about three feet in the air just flapping her wings, like she was trying to fly. Nobody else was around her, so it wasn't a dominance thing. My phone's battery was already at 1%, so the camera wouldn't activate. I'm sure she'll do it again, though!

Look like chicken math has set in. Cute little ones.

Nah, not really, yet. I always planned on six. A Silver Laced Wyandotte, a Black Copper Maran, an Americaunas, a Rhode Island Red and two Easter Eggers. The breeds are quite different that I planned, but that's ok. And I figure one of these BCM has to be a rooster. My luck just isn't good enough to have a straight run of three females.

I really need to get video of my 10-month old with "her" girls, the new chicks. She's so darn cute with them. The instant we set her down to play, she crawls over to them like a Nascar driver leaving the Pit.

Hi everybody!! I just want to ask the BIGGEST favor of you guys! I am selling chicks and ducklings and goslings for FFA. So far i have had one person order and i seriously need more people! The prices are fair and you get a nice healthy six week old addition to your flock! If you know of anyone who is interested in chicks then please message me! Thanks

So cool to watch sofia catch bugs in mid air...
I gave them corn on the cob. They loved it.. At first our German Shepard was like " I don't think so,
it is mine" so I took it away from her... She is a rescue and that is her issue... She was striving when
we got her.. Other than that she just hangs out as the flocks watch dog.. She just watches them.. Even when
they are next to her she like "whatever" ? "Its just a chicken"

Ok, other things I keep thinking to ask. do you think that silky poop smells different?? we have 1 chicken that has runny poop for ever. I keep trying to watch who it is. but forget until i get a wiff. peewwhhh. seriously!!

I know those....they are the "cecal" ones. Normal, and seems like they poop 'em every 3-4 poops(?). But yes, STINKY.
