Arizona Chickens

It's unbelievable! I've never seen it snow this hard in Tucson.

You must be new.

Christmas of 87 we had a few inches of snow that lasted for a couple days. Easter of 97 (I think) we had some pretty good snow. A few years back we had an inch one sunday morning in January.
I've lived here since 81 and those are the only really memorable snows that I have. Summer storms stick in my memory also, like the floods of 83.

Unfortunately, no. I would loved to have seen that. The dog got all riled up when I said "COYOTE!" and coupled with the smell of it in the yard, she went crazy looking for it. If she had just stayed put for a few seconds she would have seen it slink from behind the greenhouse and jump up onto the wall. It stood there for a bit and leapt away just as the dog reached the wall. She loves protecting her chickens and really hates coyotes.
yeah I wish your dog would of got a taste...

I got them from the Asian markets.
American grocery produce doesn't tend to be as good..Including exotic stuff.
I once saw a dragon fruit at whole foods for $11 or $14!
They're half that at the Asian market. And so yummy, like kiwi.
If you can, try to make it to Mekong on Dobson in Mesa... I think it's on the corner of Broadway? If you go north on Dobson you cant miss it on the left with the Chinese style buildings and tons of different Asian restaurants. Its pretty cool set up like a little Asian mall if you're into cultural excursions.

Or the Chinese Ranch Market on 44th st (which will definitely have persimmons most of the year), south of the 202, they also have amazing Asian pastries at the 44th st one.

Idk if they're the eating the skin type, the last time I had one was almost 4 years ago!

Both markets close at 9.

Lee Lee's is overpriced and it stinks really bad... I mean most Asian markets smell like fish, but Lee Lee's smells like something died compared to the other markets.

There are a lot of little mom and pop grocers all over but it takes some looking to find them. We know of about 5 Middle Eastern ones and one Japanese lol.
I actually prefer to buy my groceries at the 44th st market just because their produce tastes better than the regular store (plus its cheaper).
Obviously its a drive, so we only get to stop there if we're visiting MIL or FIL who live in the Arcadia area of phoenix.

Sorry for blabbing, I kind of get excited when I see something I can put input into or relate to since I can't have chickens yet :) :)

The Asian market is on Dobson & apache...
South west corner..

I'm inside "The Dungeon" right now at work, so I have no idea what it's like here.  But I'm leaving tomorrow morning for the Hualapai Mountains near Wikieup and Kingman.  The weather and radar shows pretty good cloud cover and that they are expecting snow in the region.  I'm not sure how much the area we're going will get or if we're high enough, but it'll be a cold trip.

I might rethink the "no tent" idea.  I always sleep under the stars...
