It was my birthday and my husband is the best!

I am REALLY hoping no one replies. I want people to be smart about buying pets.

Trouble is, people don't think of them as pets - they are Easter decorations.

Some people just don't think!

I volunteered at the Humane Society in Tucson for a couple of years (before kids.) You'd be amazed!

Happy birthday Sock!

Talking about the chicks as decorations made me think of some quotes:

”A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.”

Idiocy:
Never Underestimate the Power of Stupid People in Large Groups.

TEAMWORK
A few harmless flakes working together can unleash an avalanche of destruction.

Hope that brought a smile to your morning or maybe your head is in your hands shaking.

Either way have a good day

Hello guys,

I haven't posted in forever, but I have totally been bit by the chicken bug (funny, it's right around easter). I have plans for expanding my current coop and would like to add 2 more girls to my flock of 5, if possible. I really like the look of Buff Orpingtons, but I want to hear from us AZ folks on which breed of chicken you've noticed fairs best in the heat. I would like 'pretty' girls (Wyandettes maybe?), and all my hens are full grown, so it would probably be easier to integrate fully grown birds. I am willing to pay for the ladies if you are downsizing!

Please share your wisdom with me!

Heelers&Chickens_OhMy I have 5 red sex link hens that are 1 year old now and they did beautifully last summer. Once they started laying at 5 1/2 months old they did not slow up until they started to molt in Nov. Now they are right back to laying. I get 4 or 5 large tan or brown eggs a day. They are very calm, follow me around like my dog does, get in our laps if we sit down and they play with my chiuahua. I have been VERY happy

with their preformance and feed conversion ratio.

The only ones I have for sale right now are new chicks. I have Red Cross (red sex link) chicks and I have Golden Comet sex link chicks.

Heelers&Chickens_OhMy :

Do BA's lay green eggs? I have a bantam sized black chicken, with a small crown thingy, who lays green eggs and I can't figure out what breed she would be...

BA's lay pinkish brown eggs. Well, the charts say brown, but some are pinkish. If I understand correctly and there are those here that are more expert than I, Easter Eggers and Auracana (sp?) are the main ones that lay green eggs and/or blue eggs.

BAs are also usually big birds. Not banties. If it lays a green egg, it is some sort of bantam Easter Egger cross.
