Arizona Chickens

15 chicks from MO arrived safe and sound and ready to go under a broody mama tonight. 14 Heritage Delawares and a Silver Laced Wyandotte... all drinking and eating and pooping in the Laree brooder.

QCHS Concert Band got a score of Excellent at State Competition!!! Soooooo happy! And finally got more fencing for the school run!

CONGRATS!!!

So, umm, I misread a Craig's List posting and I'm afraid I ended up with a bit more than I expected. Ok, far more than expected. I answered the ad for a small box of beekeeping supplies, which turned in to four large boxes and a small one of supplies. Just feeling around the boxes, it feels like a full hive: maybe two supers full of frames, a brooder and the entrance. I'll open it once I get home and get some pictures...

My wife won't let me have a hive on my property, so I am thinking about giving it to you, Bonnie. I know you have the hive under the shed, but I don't recall if you had a replacement hive to move them to. If and when you move them, I'd love to come help.

Either way, it was a nice score. I'm keeping the hood, smoker and such, though.

Thank you, I was just getting ready to shower and take care of my nephews hive. Mine is under my shed, I have desided that I am going to leave them, they are limited to a 4" to 5" h 2' wide and 10' long space, so if I open my floor, put a queen excluder, put over the hole my supper with frames, let them do their thing. When they sworn just be ready to get bees.

Is your wife scared of bees? She shouldn't be. My mom is tarrified of bees, and taught me her fear, my dad liked bees and thought they were fun, he taught me that. I taught myself to deal with it, bees are fun to have.

I know I've been missing for ever. Been tending the microfarm. I put in a small garden, have started raising quail but have come to realize that the flies are out of control and remembered that I learned on here that muscovy ducks take care of that for us. So, while hubby is working in DC I am wanting to get about 3-4 muscovy ducklings. Does anyone have any up for sale or hatching this week? I have a few broody hens sitting on some easter egger eggs. I'd like one of them to raise the ducklings and the other to raise the chicks. If you have any, would you please PM me? I live in East Mesa and willing to drive about 40 miles one way to get them. The chicks are due to hatch on the 9th so any time before that would be great.
