Arizona Chickens

I know I'm breaking all the rules by letting a broody raise little chicks in the pen with all the other hens, but it's working out well. Plus, I don't have a separate pen available right now. Between the mama hen and the rooster, my other hens have been forced to stay in the coop when the chicks are out. I had to put another waterer in the coop and increase the free ranging time for the poor girls!

sense no one wants my eggs, dose anyone have an incubator I can barrow? For about 20-21 days? I live in Peoria, please PM me. Then I will have chicks barn-yard-mix. Because the roosters are RIR and Leghorn I may have light olive eggers. We will see. I have no idea how many are fertile/viable.

I have 2 silkie broodies.

It is going to be 117 on Friday. I am really afraid for my chickens! I am going to put an extra mister on a hose in the cage for them just to help out. I have fans blowing through the mist also. Anyone have other good ideas? I may put an ice block out there. I have not done that as of yet.

I am a nut bug, but I installed a small A/C unit in my coop. Not kidding.. http://backyardchickenlady.blogspot.com/2013/06/does-it-make-me-crazy-chicken-lady-if.html?m=0

My hen loves hanging out in there to lay her eggs now.

I too have an A/C unit in the coop. I keep it at 82 so it is comfortable for them while laying eggs. we have misters in the runs and two containers with ice water for them to soak their tootsies.

Daphne loves her foot soak. This is a planter saucer and the other is a under the bed plastic container that 4 girls can hang out in.

My chickens want a play date at your coop...LOL I love the painted wall! What a great idea!

You are cracking me up. Your chicken coops are cooler than my home is during the day.
To be honest, I am very concerned about this upcoming heat wave. I am trusting nature
to take care of itself. Have taken all the steps I am willing to (short of AC units in our

) Here's hoping all our girls successfully maneuver through this
summer heat.
