Arizona Chickens

not directly BYC but may be of interest to some BYC members next month I plan on ordering a length of Vlisco Dutch Wax Fabric. It is primarily sold to the African market, do to, 1. Strength of the Cotton 2. Vibrants non-fading colors. 3. Meny of the prints tell a story, or are representative of some aspect of the wearer, such as
l like money or attract money

I love my chickens or I have a happy family

And then there are just patterns this is most familiar to us and the original (we see and have cheep copy's)

This is one I've had for 25 years, the blouse has been washed a couple of times, the skirt dozen upon dozen of times. However I have another one I have used bleach on, that has faded.

It is sold only in 6 yard length, the cheapest is €41,00 up to over €90.00, roughly $45.00 to $119.00. There are a lot of copy's, of the patterns, they are much cheaper, that is what is sold here in the US. In Africa many chose to buy the cheaper, but most will save and check and verify they are getting the best. It is that important to wear a Vlisco Dutch Wax, Java prints are the cheapest of their prints. To let everyone know you are wearing the real thing the salvage is usually exposed and not hemmed.
This is the link for anyone interested in looking at their fabrics, I plan on ordering if you wish we could combine our order, possibly saving on shipping. PM me if interested or would like more information.

This is the day that Kent Jr. Crowed.. Little stinker.. We do need to give him away..
His father is a partarage silkie, mom is a buff.. He looks like him mom..
He is friendly, soft & adorable.. P.M. Us if interested..

Aww, what a happy yet sad day. My Barred Rock cockerel already has fertile eggs in the incubator, but still hasn't crowed. He is 14 weeks old. Fortunately we are allowed to have roosters so he doesn't have to worry bout needing re-homed if he crows one day.

I hope you find a really great home for your little guy.

I've searched BYC and the web and I just can't seem to find any good reviews on leg bands, so I thought I'd ask my AZ brothers and sisters. Does anyone here use them? I want to use them just so I can start telling some of my girls from each other and then to separate the ages. Thanks in advance!

I buy these on eBay, one size fits all and they will give you whatever color combinations you want.

First let me say that I LOVE online shopping and buy most everything online. I would suggest checking out the 99 cent store (or dollar store, my farorite is the "99 Cent ONLY Store") for those colored zipties, because they will be a LOT cheaper there.

I live an hours drive from town...gas is almost $4 per gallon, so the colored zip ties don't seem so expensive to me.

I know, she really does without the tell-tale copper. But the place doesn't raise Australorps, so there's been no mix-ups. She does have the feathery legs. I, at some point, would just love her to lay eggs, any color!

Thanks for the link to your photos, By Chicken Lady. So...I'm thinking I can cross 3 supposed cockerels of the list? That's AWESOME!

ArizonaSon, if you're reading--we have black copper marans from the same place--are any of yours all black, or have they developed the normal feathering?
I have BCM from Hippie Chicks; most of the girls have little to no copper and most of the boys had waaaay too much and went to freezer camp. some of the girls have clean legs .... I have other pullets from another breeder and everyone is in the same pen so I'm not real sure who is laying what yet.
