Think of it this way, many women do not realize they are pregnant until they are a couple of months along; some even longer. Giving birth at three months would mean that they had a month or less of knowing that they were going to have a baby and getting prepared for it. That is basically what you do when you give a barely broody hen chicks.
I wouldnt be able to attend a process group (regardless of location) unless i was given a largely advanced notice. This would be to set up a day off and plan the day. My hatch is the 14th and as always, I will have a handful of remaining roos that do not sell. They would be ameraucanas, bantam ameraucanas and possibly marans. I'd be happy to offer these up yet they I cannot house them after they crow. If a party was willing to grow them until the date of the event I would pay for feed? It is also possible that I could bring rabbit fryers.
I sure will. but you know the that the expression don't count your chickens before the hatch.Congrats, LKD! Sounds exciting! I don't have an incubator, either. I hope the hatch goes well, and please keep us updated!

I'll be leaving soon to get and incubator, I check to see if anyone can lone me one before I leave the house about 2:00PM to day.
Yeah we would never attempt to do something without some help. He looked beautiful.. Was his skin black?Processed my tiny crowing cockerel yesterday. I seriously (drama!) felt traumatized at the killing part, which took less the 3 seconds. Milk jug as a cone, lopped his little head off with brand new tree loppers. I'm not sure there is quicker and less traumatic way to kill...besides letting someone else do it., but ugh, hated it. The rest was quick and easy. I skinned since I didn't want to deal with scalding and plucking. His wee body is brining right now, I'll probably do stock with him. This guy was a Polish/silkie mix, obviously small at only 3 months old.

Does anyone have carpenters savvy wifes or husbands? Hehe. I need an indoor coop built. Not sure if anyone saw but a friend of mine has three hens that are disabled due to a coyote attack. They need to be indoors and given specific care. Pretty simple build but id rather not mess it up. Im bad with carpenter work anyway. If your interested in chicks I can do a partial chick/cash trade too. Either way, got to get it built!
