This last weekend, my last hen from the original AZ batch got as old as she could. She was 8 and a half years old. Sweety will be missed.
I do have four pullets that I'm raising but they haven't become as friendly as Sweety was. Hopefully they will in time.

Condolences for your loss.. Yeah I feel the same way about our 2nd batch of chickens.. We did spend more time with the first..
How long did sweetly lay? 8 is a good age for a chicken..

I have a white turkey hen, Wings, that I thought got a bit to warm yesterday even tho she was in shade all day with plenty of water. I found her last night at feeding time breathing hard and you can hear rattling in her throat as she labors to breath. I watered her down and put her feet in water also. No better this morning. I am now afraid she is sick! Never had this before. Anyone know what this is?

Just a newbie, however the noise could be fluid. Treat with duramycin 10.. I get all of our chicken supplies from Tempe Feed & Tack..

Hey MC!!! I am not sure what she will look like fully grown. I was given fertile eggs and this was the winner! I will post more pics as she grows older. Those nest boxes are just for decoration on the back wall. One of the guys at work told me that his friend was looking to sell it for $10.00. What a deal!!! My silkies don't use a nest box. I have a 13 x 13 nesting pad they lay eggs on. Got 5 out of 7 silkie eggs yesterday.

speaking of brahmas, I have some buff laced brahmas that are maybe 12 weeks old or so that I need to sell or trade. I have no clue on the sex as they all look pretty much the same! send me a PM if anyone is interested.

I just put an ad up on CraigsList for pure German New Hampshire pullets if anybody is interested. I have too many pullets, don't need to raise them all. Also have Black and Blue Copper Marans pullets for sale. And need to thin out the Orloffs, too.

Darn, wish I was headed to Tucson sometime in the near future.

It has been early 100 hours into my hatching experience. Out of 24 eggs 1 is clear, 4 I am not sure of, the rest look good. This is all learning for me, asi go I am sure I will learn more of what I am looking at. Being Maran eggs, I couldn't have picked an easyer color egg to learn on.
