Well, our German Shepard did not make it.. He suffered something horrible.. I felt so bad for him.. After 2-4 calls I finally got
in to our vet.. . HAPPY,HAPPY,HAPPY for that.. Still sad even though we only had him for 2+ weeks. He was a sweet guy..
Can't wait to get a full nights sleep it has been a week.. I think I said something, not so funny to the cashier at trader joes..
I probably look awfull from crying..
I got the red Italian red wine for Coq AU Vin.. I think I will have 2-3 small roosters.. Enough for a appetizer.. We will have to
do another processing party/ cooking party.. In the winter. ? See ya all on Sunday the 1ST..

Okay guys.... I know that this is a great place full of wonderful people! SO i need your help! For those of you with kids you may have heard of tax credits. So awhile back you might remember me winning state for FFA. Well I get to go to Louisville Kentucky to compete in October. But im in need of some money so i cam to propose this to you guys. A tax credit form is like the holy grail to kids in clubs. Basically you tax payers fill out a form and write a check for X amount of dollars. That money then gets sent to the school and straight towards my trip. When it come time to file for taxes in april i believe, you recieve that money back to do as you please. So already I have paid 200 of my 800. So that leaves 600. Ive begun to sell some of my young hens and chicks and my old musical instruments and basically anything and everything. So those interested in buying an ameracauna hen or some japanes and silkie cross pullets let me know! I also have a rouen female duck for sale. But those tax credits would mean the world for me to go on this once in a lifetime trip (i dont win much haha) so ill put the link below, You can PM me if you have any questions or concerns! Thanks you guys

Embarrassing moment #202: I just realized I've been pronouncing 'Marans' incorrectly. Oh well, now I know.
Actually, I have no idea how to pronounce Maran. Or many of the breeds for that matter. Supposedly, Maran can be used for both singular and plural.

I too, am so sorry to hear about your dog. It doesn't take long to fall in love. You were there for him, that's something.

It's ALWAYS spelled 'Marans'...it's the name of the town in France where they originated. I had been saying muh-RANS. I believe the 's' is silent and it's pronounced like 'Karen', but with a 'M' instead of the 'K'.

Mostly breeding over a long time. It is just in their blood, they lay eggs because they want to be a Moma. Silkies were never breed not to want to be a mother, so the go broody more often and it can actually affect their health if they can't have a bunch of baby's chicks to take care of it is believed by some Silkie People. They were breed for pets, as eye candy, and they are eaten as a delicacy or Medicean. Their eggs and meat are not at the top of the breed goal. In 5,000 years, by now they would no longer tend to be broody, they would be a lot bigger I'd that is the case.

Some breeds rarely go broody and there are some that are not good mothers. Double purpose are just that, meat eggs and more chickens, they will go broody.

As for why? Good question, I would ask the chicken. Some one else may know. All I know it is a genetic clock that just goes off. Why dose a woman want to have a baby.... Or a man for that fact?

Haha. Thanks for the reply. I guess the human analogy doesn't make sense to me cuz when my wife goes broody, she doesn't strap on a belly suit and or start breast feeding stranger's babies. :D At least not yet, but she is still young.
