Arizona Chickens

A successful rooster rehoming! Thanks to Gallo & Becky!!

Buddy seems perfectly happy...now I'm building a 2nd coop and plan to split my flock. He will be with his main lady another orloff (Anya), a Welsummer, a golden lakenvelder, and my salmon favarolle (all first season & not yet laying) plus my youngest 3 pullets (2 red stars & 1 ameraucana) who are about 5 weeks but still in the brooder. Its so fun! Hope I'm ready for coop #3 in the spring for the meaties....I am totally chicken crazy.

DH said he likes them too, because when he makes me mad I go out with the chickens & come back in happy again!!

My new roo, Buddy....thanks again guys!

NOT BYC subject related. I will not talk politics with my family. What is the option on it? Should I agree blindly with my family, take sides, or voice my opinion.

I have read books on our political history, IE: artical so written (on micro files) at the time of their political life. Jefferson was called the son of satin, but not in those words. Writing was an art and much more flowery and descriptive. Every president had there detractors. This is why there are laws against slander. The smear campaigns made our campaigns of today as sanitary. Skill in double entendre and innuendo was heavenly used. Some of this, that had been writtin bad published has been in operated into our history and to this day being taught as fact. Inert he day of Jefferson and Adams you could challenge with a duel, or go the law suit (less common). Some of the as of yet "noble" blood fealt it un dignified to even acknowledge smear campaigns by the lower classes, and they have had, in our history bookes, the worst of it.

Also history is as it is written, not as it was. There have been few croficalers that did not infuse their opinion or that by whom paid them.

No political talks in my family. It's not worth losing family over. We can't be civil about our differences.

Bcm laid her 2nd egg today - it's gorgeous

Here is my little Lemon again. Her behavior is perfectly normal. Although she has fewer head feathers than her sisters, I am still more concerned about the pinkish/red areas around her eyes and lower portion of beak. I don't think it is a development issue as maybe more a reaction to something. Her sisters of all the same age seem to have white skin where hers is red and seemingly scaly. I checked for mites and she is clean. Is it just that she hasn't feathered in so it seems more stark? I didn't notice this redness when my other girls were at this same point.

Especially the swollen "gland" behind her ear. It doesn't appear raised in this pic but it is a significant bump.

Awwwe!!! I miss my little Buddy and his sounds. I'm so glad it worked out so well. It was great to finally meet beckyhsinglsc and her lovely family. Thank you so much for transporting him. Good luck with him and keep us updated on how he does.

It's hard to see the swollen part from the pic, but other than that, the bird looks ok to me. The redness doesn't really seem all that unusual. I wish we could see the swollen part better.

Oh, that is gorgeous! (all of them are, really) Did your FBCM come from desertmarcy? My FBCM laid her first egg yesterday! I'll have to take a pic of it later, it's a decent brown with very dark brown speckles all over it. I wish all her future eggs would look like that.
