Arizona Chickens

Argh! I came home to " Bjorn had a really bad day at school and the dogs killed a chicken". I was just saying how everybody two and four legged was getting on so nicely. The dw left to go get the kids and left the dogs and chickens unsupervised, she thinks the dogs saw her chasing them around and got excited. I've been letting them all mingle and they have been great, but then I've been reminding them to leave the chickens alone.

I have an EE that flies up onto my arm. I love it

And Wyandottes seem to be calm natured in general. I've had 2 pullets and 2 roos that were the calmest, sweetest, most tolerating birds I've had. The one I have now is my favorite

EE= Easter Egger! (what hatcheries commonly sell as Ameracunas)

Good morning, everyone! I decided to excercise last night. Then I dropped the eliptical on my hand. Then I decided it was easier to be fat.

I exercised anyway.

Mahonri - I couldn't get any good pics last night. Will try to get some today.

Remember the little dove in my tree?

I noticed she was sitting a little taller last evening. She always sits quite still if I approach, so I did and in trying to hear little peeps, I leaned in a little too close and she flew away. Darn! Then I looked in the nest!

My hand is a little sore...I think I pulled a muscle in that "jerk" reaction when the eliptial came down. Nothing serious, just enough to garner a little sympathy and hand-holding from the DH

I have another bee in my bonnet. Want to make a "wading pool" to pretty up the run and give the chooks something to splash in. Messy is ok, but would like to keep the water wasting down. So no misting or spash-down. I want to make something like below---I have everything except a good base rock. I have been looking around on CL for a while, and the only thing that looked cool was a bunch on concrete sinks. Unfortunately the guy didn't post any contact info...

There was a really cool one, but it was $200. NO THANKS! Here it is:

You think the chooks would like this one?

I know, the DH used to do fancy-dance water features, with caves, and pools and all that crud. We have the silicone forms, the mix, the wire, the supports all just laying around.... BUT- we come down to the "Laree is not allowed to use the power tools" issue.

Bummer, men and their power tools;)

Something I heard last weekend, "Don't use THAT screwdriver, use this one" *DH hands me a flimsy house screwdriver* "THAT one is part of a set."

Like I would lose it, or keep it. Or *gasp* put it in the wrong drawer--not in the specially molded tool box drawer that tells him one is missing--

One day I will snap, and re-arrange the tool box.
