Arizona Chickens

You transition from starter feed to grower feed.  Grower is usually around 18% protein with the appropriate amount of calcium for that age level.  As you go from starter to grower to layer rations the calcium level changes appropriately.  If your wanting a specific amount you will have to read the bag.

We have ducks, so they eat either 22% to 28% the chickens love it.. :yiipchick
Our flock seems fine. Never had any issues..

How many pups? Do you still have any of them? what about photos?

Sorry City Farm..that was a few years ago. I had a waiting list for those pups and they went really quick. And I don't breed any more.
I will tell you though that all those dogs were crazy. I still hear from owners on occasion and some of the stunts those dogs pull, you wouldn't believe it. They all went to working homes and its a good thing.

I was wondering only out of curiosity. . What they look like?
Actually I would believe it. We had a dog that could climb up a chain link fence.. We could not figure out how she kept getting out. .she rescued her from the pound. . We have never seen a dog like her. . She would get out to go cull the wild cats then be waiting for us. . I will be posting her photos up on guess the dog breed fourm.. she looked like a fox only red ish, brown with cream chest & some on her paws..

Oh! The momma was a black/red. Long narrow body, narrow face. Her fur was longer than standard. I bred her to my black and silver male. He is solid and stocky with a straight top line. He is 10 years old and can still go over the 7 ft fence. But he doesn't because I told him no. Once.
She had 10 pups and although they all LOOKED like German Shepherds, they acted like Malinois. None of the pups looked like either parent. Go figure.
The momma dog would carry around a 2X4. Because she could. She also climbed a ladder and got up on the roof. And she killed and ATE my daughter's pekinese. That was the last straw. I returned her to the breeder per the contract I signed.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR TUCSON CHICKEN PEEPS!
I just got an email from Casey Townsend (of Tucson Aquaponics Project fame) telling everyone that there is another Urban Agriculture public feedback meeting tomorrow. Tuesday, June 10th from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the YWCA Building, 1st floor meeting room; 525 N. Bonita Ave.

The meeting will provide a thorough review of the suggested code revisions and provide time for comments and questions.
A draft of the recommended urban agriculture amendments to the Unified Development Code can be found at: http://pdsd.tucsonaz.gov/pdsd/news/sustainable-code-project.

I'm going to be stuck at work, but everybody that can make it needs to be there to make sure our views are represented.

We call them "Shepinois". I worked a dog for Goodyear or Avondale, can't remember. He was a Shepinois and was like a Chihuahua in steroids. Very nasty dog when on patrol, but the handler said he was just a snuggle little bear when his 2 year old tugged at his ears and such. He had a ton of problems with him such as biting handler during a competition and biting him in the Cheif of Polices office too I think. His name was Boris. He was a Baaaaad little doggy.

Handler sent him onto a suspect in a new neighborhood under construction. Saw the dog in plain view, released the dog. The guy dips around a corner and the dog follows handler in trail. Handler gets around the corner to find Boris pulling a guy out from under his truck by his boots. He was working on his truck on a creeper. Lol. No harm done, the dog only got the boot heel.

That is such a huge bummer.  :(    I don't think people understand just how much risk to predation their birds are here in town.
I think because I live in town & in developed area of Mesa, I have less predators then those of you that are in more rural and outlying areas. I'm sorry to hear about this this is very sad. *hugs
