Arizona Chickens

I would add that at the time I put my feeder plans on BYC, you could remove pictures and content. If I had known BYC would have that kind of control over the page I never would have posted it here.

Big corporation/websites are all the same, they run the business and take advantage of people. Unfortunately there is little can be done. I used to frequent a huge reef/marine website their mods make me sick!

He said that anything we post on BYC is copyrighted by BYC. Any pictures you post here cannot be removed even if you decide to leave. You can find the BYC terms of service here. I find some parts of the BYC tos a bit disturbing.
Upon closer inspection it looks like the company might be based in China with US headquarters in CA. Probably not a thing I can do.

Wow. So many of us jump right in to websites like this and never read that stuff. I always thought you could remove photos, since I have read old posts and found images no longer there. Guess they changed it. How did you discover they were using your plans?

Yeah, makes me mad about that one. I believe that policy change came during the change over to the new platform and I didn't discover the change until I went to delete some pics. Had I known it was coming, I would have removed it. I don't care so much about the purely informational pages I've made (e.g. the tick page or the mealworm page), it's just the stuff that could have monetary value. I was updating my treadle feeder page this morning and I was looking on you tube for some new videos of treadle feeders in action and came across a video from the company for assembling the feeder. Found a couple other people mis-using the plans too, one guy has a web site where he took my plans and changed two tiny things and is passing it off as his own and another that was outright selling the plans. Makes me wonder how much money people have made off this over the years. Kinda makes me feel stupid for being generous about it and not profiting myself.

****, that sucks, Gallo. Can BYC do anything since now I guess your plans are technically copyrighted by BYC?

Okay, I'm back from vacation! Yahoo, my chickens survived. Even my garden did okay, though the bed of squash didn't make it. Replanted on Sunday, should be golden in a few weeks.

My EE is broody...I'm not sure when that started. I didn't think EE's were prone to broodiness, but didn't someone else here recently have an EE go broody as well? I'm not sure what to do with her, I guess I should break her but I don't really have a broody breaker space, lol. Obviously too hot to give her meatie chicks. What about coturnix quail chicks? They do better in heat. Could she raise a different species for a couple of weeks?

Well, I'm off to do a new google search on chickens raising quail...and searching for cortunix quail chicks locally.

Sorry about your plans being stolen and used, Gallo. On the other hand, I am happy to hear that people can't delete photos from BYC any more. Several formerly great threads have become useless for reference because all of the relevant photos have disappeared.

Yeah, I agree, that would be the upside to the policy. I'm actually fine with it, now that I know about it. I just wish I had been given the choice before the option was taken away. It does influence what I post here now.

Yep, it does. When I cool down a bit more and have a better head about me I'll talk with Nifty and then proceed from there.

Yay for chickens surviving vacation! It's always such a good feeling to find them alive and well on the return. No broody EE but my FBCM did last week and I broke the broodiness in a wire cage. I know that generally, it's not a good idea to raise quail with chickens. Don't know about a single broody doing it away from other chickens though.
