Oh how cool, post photos of it.. That would be so awesome to do..

OK, here is a pic I snapped this morning of the mysterious "oak of the black acorn". I may have under exaggerated it a bit, when I measured it this morning, it is 23" tall. Methinks it's time for a bigger pot!

So,so,so, cool.. What a great feeling to check on it & it is thriving!! Oh, ya, also we also have a monk tree.. One just sprouted in a pot.. I thought it was our neighbors that smoke pot every day, put some seeds in one of our pots.. Nope it was just a monk tree.. GOT TO GO.. The rain is coming..

Actually, the wine is history. The hay barn is 16 x 16. I think I'm going to build a front wall on it, and put some of my woodworking equipment in there. There is another shed that is 14 x 20, and the rest of the woodworking stuff will go in there. I have an 8 x 12 shed at my other house, and if I can get it moved, it will become the chicken coop. Then I will only have to build a garage and a chicken run. I think instead of building my aquaponics grow beds raised, I am going to build ground level troughs sealed with pond liner for the beds, and a small pond for a sump tank.

I hope you specifically bought FRUITING mulberries if you want fruit. Mulberries come male and female plants and only the females produce fruit. The male mulberries are generally sold in nurseries, because people don't want the mess from the fruit, but not in Tucson, they were banned here because of allergy problems from the male pollen. You don't need a male tree to have fruit from your female tree.

I believe the males have been banned in most of the valley, that is interesting about not needing them for the fruit, learn something new everyday.

This is one of the chicks that has not grown as much as the others.. I did clean out some puss in the one eye before I took this photo.. This was the mystery chick from a Meyer order.. Her legs are skin color..

Here's a question for all you chicken experts. Do you think chickens respond to baby talk? If they don't then I need to rethink my vocal nuances but if they do then I will continue in my idiotic ramblings while holding a petting my chickens. I know they recognize me and my voice and come running. Am I an idiot whispering sweet baby talk nothings into my chickens ears, or at them - whatever?

Did anyone else in Avra Valley/Tucson get hit by that huge storm? We had hard rain for about an hour and hail for a while at my place. The dogs and the chickens loves the mud afterwards though

Is it me or is AZ having a mass ant invasion?? The ground of my ducks enclosure is crawling with ands, my tortoise burrowed a hole and got stuck so we had to dig her out and ended up hiting an ant hill which then caused the ants to attack the tortoise! Then I took my dog to the park and ants were crawling all over me while I was just sitting there. Any ideas on controlling ants without harming other pets?

There is an ant poison called Amdro. It is small yellow granules, you sprinkle a spoonful near an ant hill, and they will take it into the nest. It takes a day or two, but it will wipe out the nest by killing the queen.
DO NOT put it where chickens can eat it! The only ants I've found that it is not effective on are leafcutter ants, they ignore it.
