I still think about tofuboy....I wish that it would have worked out. Isn't it amazing that they can find the smallest places to get out

I have an Oster egg cooker. You poke a hole in the bottom of the egg and "steam-boil" them to soft, medium or hard. You just put the eggs in, fill to the desired water level, push the button and wait about 10 mins. It'll do poached too (only 4 at a time).
They're a breeze to peel this way. You can only cook 8 at a time, though.

There is another way! Can't remember which "chicken forum" I learned this one on. . . .but it works.

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. . . . insert (fresh) eggs. . ...boil for14 minutes, immerse immediatly in ice water. . . .they peel beautifully. . . .I have been doing this for a long time now. . . .have had one egg (and only one) that did not peel beautifully. . . . .

That is what I normaly do. Boil them, dump out the hot water, then fill up the pot with cold water and lots of ice cubes.

The last thing I need in my kitchen is more stuff also.

Nessa - So happy for you!

Goose Babies - Sending Hatch Well wishes.

Setting Broodies - Hatch well wishes for your too!

Egg steamer - I may have to check into this. The peeling egg thing drives me nuts. 2 weeks old does work better. For easter I boiled and peeled eggs and the put the boiled peeled eggs in the beet juice from canned beets over night in the fridge and cut the eggs into wedges. They were a hit with their pink skin, whit and yello coloring.

Kitchen Junk - If you use it often...is it still junk?

Good morning everyone! Sending you happy Wed wishes!

I have actually been asked to leave a Pampered Chef party.

Who needs a special tool to cut the crusts off a sandwich, or turn a PPBJ into a "Uncrustables"? Use a knife, a cup, a stinking cookie cutter!!!

I have issues.

ETA- if I have to wash it, it is junk.

I did a search on BYC once and found tons of tips...but didn't find a combo that worked...I will try this one. Thank you...better than another appliance.

MORE ACCURATELY: If the baby can pull it out of drawers, disperse on the dirty floor, bust it, or lose any of its many "parts"--it is junk.

That is one of my rules. Speeking of Pampered Chef I just got two of there huge boxes of pots, pans, nick nacks given to me. I think I am going to have to start storing things in my hall closets with the towels.

HAHAHAHAHA! I have a dino & a ghost cookie cutter--that happen to be bread-slice sized. A pumpkin too--a bunch of them could be used, I suppose.

Kitchen stuff is another hobby of mine. Just like you can always add another chicken... You can always add another fun gadget.

We use the egg cooker every morning and it's very easy to clean so it's worth it.

OK- so back on chickens:

My two Exchequer Leghorn/Speckled Sussex hens are basically bald. They should just be a year-old: and I don't beleive they molted last year. COuld it be molt? It seems early---None of their feathers "pull out easily" if I yank on them. They don't appreciate the yanking, either.

ALSO--does anyone have a fruiting mulberry tree? We have a non-flowering, non-fruiting--but I would like to attempt to graft it on (long shot, I know) & see if I can get a little bit of fruit. Just a branch-- Not a "I AM TAKING OVER YOUR YARD WITH STAINS & ANNOYING YOUR ALLERGIES" tree.
