don't forget, posture and attitude as they develop. Some get attitude young, or about the time they craw. I have noted Roos will stretch themselves more upright, to look bigger befor they really are. It is subtle, but for us that have had the time for "chicken theater" and chicks, it is observable. I had a pullet, that I was sure was a roo. It was 1 of the 5 I started on my trip with. 1 I was sure was a roo, turned out, in a week to be a roo. The questionable pullet looked like a pullet, but had an attitude and tried to romance the others. By the end of my second week she was a he. I found homes for both at a Flying J Truck Stop. A clears there had chickens. Her moth's roo had been killed protecting his ladys's by an aSo how do we know the chicken is a Roo?
* bigger comb and Wattles
* Spurs on each of their feet
* bigger then a hen of that breed
Is there anything else I need to know in determining if I have a pullet or Roo ?
raiel predictor, so there was a vacancy.
at my brothers I do not get Chicken Theater, they are not in my sight. I spend time with them but not as much as I like. Ethel, when I am not there to take them to the coop, roosts on top of the kennel's fencing. It is 8' high. My brother was concerned that she would fly out if she could roost up there. But chickens are not loners. Don't know about Game Fowl, but she will want to be close to her coop mate. I have noticed they like to see or hear each other when free ranging. Only time they will go off by themselves is when she wants to hide eggs and sit on them undiscovered. Then they can be very sneaky, trying not to be seen or heard.AZChiknGoddess I will have room for a NNS any color. I really do not have space for a big chicken. [
I know chicken math]. I do not know if it will be possible to introduce just 1, even if all you have is 2. Being so Mobil I would bring coop and chickens with me, to see. Let me know if any NNS. Will be back for thanks giving, and will be in and out if Phoenix until some time in February. As for sexing Silkies, it is very hard, I do not have the experience. I figured I had a Silkie pullet when a territorial rooster did not attack her at 4-1/2 mo. He will not allow another rooster in his coop/yard. When free ranging, Paul said he had not any problem. They claimed their territory and hens. The coop had 2 parts and could be decided into three. Each with a chicken door.
