Arizona Chickens

just a quick note..I always have chicks, I do live in the Northern Part of the state. It does make a good road trip......

Back to my really long day, I shouldn't be even on the computer at all. Keep me in your thoughts that I don't want to kill anyone today. Waiting for the people that can make the choices...I have my hands tied, I can't tell or make the choices by law but everyone wants the answers

Are you talking about the roo you got from me? hope so!

My BIL asked me how I could be certain that my roo was doing his job. I showed him the posts by CH2 where all of the eggs she put under her broody had development (18)... and the 13 chicks she got from my eggs. That's a fertile line.

to GCKIDD... my roo is going to make it. we thought the battle was going to kill him for awhile...
and cars going down really ARE aggravating.

tofuranch,

are you breeding chicks? what do you have? i will most likely want RIR or some other type of red and brahmas. do you vaccinate your chicks because the ones i have are already vaccinated so that's what i am looking for. i am thinking around august or september. or is that an awful time to do baby chicks?

September would be a great time, then they would be laying by Feb/Mar.

and yes, I remember you.

Are they all healthy now? How is their poop?

Oldest brother's oldest daughter and her family came to visit, wife's brother, SIL and son still here.
We had a big BarBQ.

DW cut my hair, I went swimming. Coops were cleaned, swept, mopped etc... I'm just tired and I need a nap. Glad we got the BarBQ out of the way so we can just RELAX on Monday!

Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend.

They are all fine, I don't think they were ever sick in the first place. Rookie mistake. I never used the antibiotics I bought that day, just ACV and all seems fine. Seems I was seeing a lot of cecal poo and nothing more than that.

I have become amazingly adept at going out to visit my chickens just in time for them all to start passing those cecal poops

What can I say, I just have great timing.

I just had to share this picture from last night. Meaty had hopped up on my knee somewhat unexpectedly, then hopped up onto my shoulder and did this. She stayed on my shoulder in/under my hair for about 15 minutes. I'm pretty sure she would have stayed all night had we not tucked her in with the rest of the chickens.....

She (I'm pretty sure she's a she) is a source of constant entertainment!

We got up extra early to join a whole lot of Scouts, including DS, to put up over 45,000 flags on the grave sites of our AZ soldiers buried at National Memorial Cemetery of AZ. We love this event! Those Scouts and volunteers move like ants over the cemetery and get it done in about 45 minutes. That is 1000 flags placed per minute! They will be up through Monday and it is quite a sight. More events taking place there this weekend. Have a great weekend everyone!

Mahonri - I didn't realize the attack was so bad on your expensive roo. I imagine you are not happy about that!
