They didnt want to come in at all yesterday evening before dark i had to catch each one by hand, i used raisins they followed me about half way then stopped and ran back into the front yard. I have only been putting 8 out 7 pullets and 1 Roo. Ill try BOSS this evening to see if they will follow, Should i stand by there coop and call them with the BOSS or make a trail? The last chickens i had always followed us so not sure what im doing wrong. I cant keep them out all night because of our dogs, the chickens stay out of from 8 or 9 am until the evening time around 6 or 7 pm then i try to get them back in. Is that to late to try to get them in? What pic are you talking about i posted a few lol.![]()

I have a mealworm question for those of you that raise your own.
I order some meal worms online, I received them two days after shipment and there were very few dead ones. I put them in a large, flat, clear plastic container with air holes in the lid. I am using oats as their substrate and have been giving fresh veggies or fruit daily (celery, carrots, cantaloupe rinds, etc) they seem to be eating very well.
I have them in the storage compartment of the coop. So they are in the heat but not in the sun.
Anyway, they seem to be dying and a fast rate. There are a lot of dark, dead ones. There are several skins I see which tells me that some are molting which is fabulous but are they dying because of the heat, lack of moisture, or???
Am I doing something wrong?
I thought I could keep them outside but maybe the heat is too much?
I want stop spending a small fortune at the local pet store buying mealworms for my girls.
When mine were younger I had to pick them up and place them in the coop at dusk. Like they didn't know that was where they were supposed to sleep. It was so cute once they got a little more mature when they put themselves to bed! We would stand around the coop and wait for them to decide it was time then watch them gather around and go up the stairs to the roost bars. I think you sort of have to train them for a couple weeks.
Lutefisk taste like rotten mulled fish.
We have left overs we have to eat first. And Monday I am invited to a BBQ in Minneapolis. So we will have it later. I have to make lefse. [VIDEO]
In Norway a village was discovered, lost to an avalanche, and abandoned. A stash of preserved cod was found. Estimated over 200 years old. A few of the dried cod (same preservation as done to day) was reconstituted, lutefisk. It tasted exactly like preserved dry cod only a yr old.It is indestructible, the archaeologists believe that it could have sat for another 200 or more years and still be good to eat....... DID THEY SAY GOOD TO EAT?
Have not posted in a while but I am constantly lurking in this thread. Need help deciding. I have a empty pen, two incubators (one does 70 eggs and the other does 10) and an itch that needs to be scratched. But........ can't decide which way to go. I want a project. I want to hatch and then improve a single breed pen. Not as concerned about chicken appearance as quality of eggs. Can't decide between going Darkest brown, brightest olive, or brightest blue.......... Help me decide!!!!!![]()
I'll check that out. ..does it grow year round? I'm not sure that question is already been answered. If anyone is interested in some of this seed for grazing let me know. The more you buy the cheaper it gets. I'm placing my order soon. I grew it last year. It came in fast and the chickens loved it.

Gallo has a link on meal worms! A great read!I think he uses a 20 or 10 gallon fish aquarium with like a reptile top that has netting.
Mine All free range so 80% of them are up in my peach tree and the other 20% go on top & inside and around my dog kennel on the other end of my yard!
