Arizona Chickens

I just realized I might have the 60 lb containers.  I'm not sure.  On the 40 lb is says it can hold 48+ lbs of bird seed, though.

Vittles Vault!  I have 3.  One for dog food and 2 for chicken feed.  :)

It says 40 lbs, but my 50 lb bag of feed fits.  They have other sizes too.

Thank you all,, I will look this up! Will this be ok to keep my organic Kumut flour /& other dry food in them? :idunno

I have one for my dog food, but they are so expensive. This is a good price though.

Well it says. . . ."..Made from High Density Polyethylene, FDA Approved Food Grade Plastic. BPA free.
We care about the safety and storage of food, for people and pets! Vittles Vaults are completely recyclable. "
.... So does it have a number 5 at the bottom? ??

in case anyone's interested, I will have papaya seeds to add to the seedbox and some guava seeds as well. However papaya IS sensitive to frost so I would plant it up against the house where it can be covered,, otherwise you lose it during a hard frost.

I have some extra limes ( just PM me) if some people in this East Valley area would like some let me know Or for those that may travel up near this area

has anybody found some economical food grade large storage containers that are plastic? Target Has them for their pet food but they're kind of pricey

I would love some seeds. some of all of them if I could. I just was thinking about paying $10- for papaya at this little place but couldn't bring myself to pay that much for them. Thank you in advance. btw we use old ice chests for food grade containers. works great!! (yes we might be red necks lol)

Im going to have ti seperate my BR Roo Brave from the flock he keeps graving the pullets by there head feathers, he is only 11 weeks isnt he to young to try to breed? My pullets are the same age no eggs though. Is that a breeding behavior or is it something else?

That is normal behavior, he seems a little bit young though.

Unfortunately, until the boys get the hang of it, so to speak, it can be a bit rough on the girls. One of my pullets accidently got scalped by our cockerel when they were about 20 weeks old (She healed, but it was an ugly wound). He was trying to figure it out and had a hard time. I thought that since they were raised together it would be easier for them, but it wasn't.

These days, I will keep the cockerels separate from the girls until they are all more mature. That way, the girls aren't as frightened and are more submissive, and the boys are hopefully more mature and not as rough.

We didn't have any other incidents after the scalping problem, but I think it could have been avoided if the pullet wasn't afraid and resisting him and if he had been more mature.

Now off to do my weekly posts online for my Graduate Composition class.

You need to teach a class on chicken math.. Include issues on;
Do boys add more or girls? What happens if there is a double yolk?
Can chickens count, do they want more brothers & sisters? What happens when you see
a friends chicken? Do chickens love humans?

Thank you, I saw that before I had my own chickens and forgot about it. He is not the only one I have heard refer to American Chicken as garbage.

I'm getting ready to stick some TJ eggs under my BA too. She went broody right after this discussion.

They are also only 4-5 days old. I'm hoping for some mellow(for a leghorn) egg laying machines.
