I just went outside, and my avatar Dozer, just hatched an egg. One was pipped under her & peeping, th 3rd (I thought there were only 2?) was still closed. Technically the eggs aren't due until tomorrow
This is her first hatching, second raising this year
SO--because she is out with the other chickens I will have to vaccinate sooner rather than later. Once she is done hatching, I will seperate her, vaccinate the chicks, and then quarantine them for as long as she lets me. (Dozer has a mind of her own)
The one hatched chick of the chicks is a REEEEEAAAAAllllyyyy cool color...I am anxious to get under her and see what egg it came from. Aloha pullet? EE? who knows?!
Oh yeah---I noticed when I was collecting eggs, Dozer's sis is completely bald on her tummy. She's been hanging out in the nesting boxes, so I may just toss my incubators & utilize these girls' skills next year.
