Arizona Chickens

Thanks Chillin with my peeps, it is nice to know Murry McMurray is a good place. My engineer son in law came over with screws, a drill an extra wood and fixed my problem. I do like the hen hut for what I have because it is portable. looking forward to seeing them scratch in the grass while the fertilize it all.

Sry about your chickens. I keep misters in my coop to keep my chickens cool. Were your chickens in grass, or sand>?

Hey, my chicks are going on three weeks and growing like weeds. Do you guys think I can move them to a cage outside? They will be separate from any predators. I was just looking for a sense of whether you think they will handle the 65 degree nights at 3 weeks without a light.

The general rule for baby chicks is to keep them at 95 degrees the first week, 90 the 2nd, 85 the 3rd, and so on till they are 6 weeks old and fully feathered.

I think you can put them outside now, but make sure you leave the heat lamp with them. You could get lucky and have them survive without it, but you'd be taking a chance that you might lose some.

Anybody have ducks in az, am moving the end of summer and have 4 runner ducks. I lived in az for 12 years but all I ever had was dogs. I also will be bringing a bearded dragon looking forward to letting her sun she likes hot weather lol darn lizards.
