Arizona Chickens

She'll be fine, chickens eat all sorts of things. She should just pass it through. Just make sure she has plenty of water and don't feed her as much

Thank you! ^_^ my husband made the waterer, he says he's gonna start selling them cuz they're so awesome :-D the ducks can't dirty the water, it's miraculous.

As for the feed...I set up my 7" tablet as the webcam. You basically go to livestream on the tablet and start recording. You can use a phone, too. All you need is WiFi. My livestream account is free. So it's pretty painless. And I get to watch the chicken channel ALL DAY! Can't beat that ;-)
even more of a reason for me to get a new tablet!!! WOOHOO! Let me know when he makes more waterers and how much they might be! I need something like that for my brooders.

I'm so upset! I was hanging out in the run with my 5-week old NNs and my favorite pullet leapt onto my shoulder, yanked out my silver pearl earring and swallowed it before I could stop her. Not only was this my favorite pair of earrings and a wonderful gift from my teenage son, but now I'm terrified that the metal post will kill my favorite chick!

Awww, I'm sorry about your earring. She must have thought it was a seed pearl!

Hope she is okay.

Taking this evening off to relax with my toes in the dirt. Home brewed English Olde Strong ale and some chickens.

Looks wonderful.. We are planning a trip there.. Any suggestions on where we can camp, & mountain bike ride? If there is a running stream, that would make it even better.. Still working on who is going.. Wonderful photo!!

ok, I looked and this is AWESOME! I love the feed so you can watch them, how do you do it? I like your water jug too, where did you get it? This would be so awesome to set up on the incubator!!!

I did try to go on, but had to sign in.. I can not remember another password. Can you post photos of the waterer on here?

I have had that happen.. glad you reminded me of it.. I did find the earring a few months later when I was cleaning.. Are you going to keep her separated? :hugs

Had a little time for the garden so I spent it turning the compost. Of course with a little help from some of the girls!

A gold sex-link and welsummer checking out the turned out bin. Never know what you might find lurking in the almost finished materiel.

My olive egger scratching for treats. This girl is way too brave, I have to be careful not to step on her while I'm working with the bins.

My three bins. L to R they hold new materiel, compost materiel that is actively cooking, and finished compost. I can add or subtract the boards on the front when I need to for holding more stuff or to fork it out for air.

Middle bin with all the front boards off and most of the materiel out. I usually leave it like this for a day or two before I fork it back so the chickens can help work the stuff. They will spread it out as they do so and help add oxygen.

The first bin not yet half full of new materiel in contrast to the second bin that's been cooking for a couple of months. It doesn't take long to turn into black gold! The compost gets hot as it's decomposing and in winter the girls love to root through and sit or just stand in the hot compost.
