Arizona Chickens

Not to mention one bonked me in the lip, Which made me feel like I got punched in the lip! And he clawed my shirt right open! Grrr!

Good thing I was in the backyard......... -.-

Fires are relaxing even when its hot out! Beautiful set up. My girls are loving the night time and early morning cool. Now we'll see it they'll give up a few more eggs, although molting doesn't help!! Stay happy.

And an even happier Saturday! Woke up at 7:00 this morning to an overcast sky and a temperature of 75 degrees. Wish it would stay just like this all weekend. Still have a lot of reconstruction to do on the chicken palace this weekend, and the weather is perfect!
The area I have secured now is 30' x 30' (4 pens), but I have all the inside gates open to let everyone mingle and sociaize, and they are loving every minute!

fun! Yes I hope the nice weather stays, I still haven't figured out what to do about my turkeys flying on my roof if I should trim one wing or not? Ideas anyone?

I just found my RIR hen dead on her back :'( I suspect it's old age(as she was a hand me down chicken that was probably 5-7 years old then and I've had her for 2 more, but should I be concerned about anything else that my other girls might have caught? The temperatures up here are very mild (low 80's today) It makes me so sad she is gone as she was one of the friendliest of the bunch that would come running when I called her and was head lady.

So sorry. Those that steal your heart are hardest to lose.

This morning I was sitting on a porch swing and one of my EE was preening my hair. I looked up at here and bam, she pecked me right in my eye. Ouch it hurt, but fortunately it missed the pupil, although my eye is bloody looking. She is so sweet, so I know it wasn't really aggression.
