Keep watching here - there are always roosters to be rehomed. Good luck with the new hatch - weather is cooling so it should go better.Yes all is as it should be, starting 26 barred rocks this morning, the old fashioned way, still looking for a mongrel rooster
I think your on track doing the right thing by separating the couple.. He might tear up her feathers from over breeding.. You can purchase I call it a "cape" from @kukupecpec she is a chicken attire clothes designer..e
She is in Tucson.
Can you post up photo's of your flock? Is your cockerel a big guy ??

Yesterday I put Mr Rooster in the coop with my Buff Orp hen...after an hour he still had his head in the corner trying to hide. I went in there and petted the hen, she squatted down and put her tail up for me, he wasn't into it. I left them in there for another hour and let them out. Could he be afraid of the other hens? They are so docile with me...
I'm not sure his breed. He came in a mix from McMurray, Im hoping he might be a "blue" that came out black and white but carries the gene. Feathers on the feet but not as many as my Cochin hens. I don't have many Pics of him. Here he is a few months ago with his best friend, she's a phoenix pullet not laying yet

Spoiled brat's you guy's have there..
Light brahmas have featherd feet.. Is he your only cockerel ? He will favor her mostly.. It is hard to keep them pinned up while the others are free ranging.. If you don't have another dude maybe add one.. Slowly.. That might be hard.. They don't always intergrat well.. Once a flock is grown up together, they stay together.. We have single hen's from people. It seems they will always be a single hen, even a year later.. I will probably go to the stock shop and get chicks to put under Cheryl .. Our silkie... She is a single hen and low on the pole.. But boy does she love to raise chicks... I'm thinking I'll let her and give that flock to a family.. Idk.. I guess we will see who has chicks soon..
