Arizona Chickens

What's a farm girl to do.. I happen to see this post on the SF thread.. What amazing bird's they have.. I put a word out to a friend that hatches a ton of egg's to see if they would hatch some out for me.. They are such beautiful bird's, great layers, amazing sweet personalities.. What more could you ask for really .. Here is some of their bird's... Like I don't already have enough to do.. It's really all Cheryl the silkie's fault.. She is broody and is giving me the "please let me be a mom again EYE" check out this link .. & yes we would get the d'Uccle as well..

Now you're speaking my language. Salmon Faverolles are definitely on my wish list! So are Brahmas. And I'm not only letting my broody hen hatch a half dozen eggs, but have decided to put a couple dozen in my incubator. My family is going to hate me.

Yay! It took a bit, but the girls have settled in! Look what we found this morning!

What are ya'lls favorite foods? Do I want a corn free scratch? I picked up a layer crumble, but I am sure someone has better suggestions.

He is a georgous dude.. He went to another member on BYC .. We at that time had a good breeding pair, plus extra cockerels... so off he went. It's only because I have always wanted Salmon Feverolles that he went.. Then a different member had SF.. Off we went to get them.. Yes, a crazy chicken lady.. There I said it..

Us crazy chicken people are the best anyhow :)

Yeah, your right.. :goodpost:

Oh well then am I an enabler?? :lau
If you are wanting to hatch some out let me know. my friend is about 1 hour plus from me.. She has not said yes to hatching yet.. One other friend has a incubator I could use but, no thanks .. So if you want we could work out a meet up after they hatch.. Chick exchange, BYC seed box, drink.. Sounds like to much fun.. Depending on details, I need to head your way soon.. So either way would work. . My friend is showing her horses & won't be home untill Sunday evening..
Also, ther is another breeder that someone mentioned on the fav's thread.. But they are bantam, which might be better IDK.. I can't make up my mind.. I have not seen her bird's.. (the_water_whisper) on eBay .. I don't order online to often.. I'll call you.. What are we farm girl's to do!!!

We love fermented feed for our flock.. The duck's kinda like it.. It is a co-op.. I need to find the link.. I'll post in a min for ya

WHOA! The local Sprouts has chicken thighs or drumsticks on sale for 69 cents a pound. So I went out this morning and bought a little over 50 pounds of thighs for $35. Looks like I will be doing a lot of canning this weekend! Also got all the fixins to make up about a gallon of fire roasted tomato salsa. I guess if I make a bunch of tortillas, I will be eating a lot of hot chicken burros for a while!

I adore my SF she's actually my best flyer even though I nicknamed her Chubs :p Every morning first thing she jumps up onto the roost bar outside and then flies up onto our cross beam in the run. No one else can get up there and they get upset LOL

I second this! I use the same feed and ferment it, but use the Tucson group since that's closer to my house. My chickens are thriving on this feed, and love the scratch too. Oh...and they now sell organic black oil sunflower seeds too.

I think you're one of many enablers for me. Every time I see photos of someone's gorgeous chickens, ducks, turkeys, muscovies...I want them!

As much as I'd love to add the SFs to my flock, right now is just not a good time. I've already got 46 chickens with some eggs already being incubated....and I'm pretty much overwhelmed. I tend to do that to myself quite often. It's a major character flaw....but at least it gives me lots of eggs and meat.
