Arizona Chickens

@DesertChic I had to look up the info on the Dorkings to find out more about them. They seem to be a good sized chicken, and a good broody breed. Would you be willing to sell me a couple of the pullets in the future? I have heard it's better to have 2 as buddies when introducing them to a new flock.

Once I start breeding and hatching them, absolutely. Right now this is my starter flock. I've spent nearly 3 years trying to get my hands on some and FINALLY managed to locate some hatching eggs. So far, so good. They're incredibly sweet, friendly birds and run to me and crowd around my feet, begging to be held and snuggled, but they're only 18 weeks right now. It will be a while before I can start breeding and hatching offspring.

That sound's good that they are also friendly like my Australorps are. I can wait, and I don't need your best ones. Just as long as it's 2 that will be broody is good enough for me.

I have Sadler studying already.

When I get to Va does anyone have any recommendations as to where should I order my Delawares from? I don't need show quality just want some nice birds.

Here's a source for Dorkings that I've been eyeing in case I decided to raise some. Don't know his reputation, though.

Thanks, but I think that I would rather get a couple from DesertChick when she's ready, as she lives right here in AZ. It would save her from culling the couple of girls that aren't up to the SOP par, thereby giving her some money to help her to feed the rest of her flock.

My birds actually come from that line originally, though I don't think the breeder I purchased from was working towards SOP. I most definitely will be, so I'll be culling birds that don't look promising once I start breeding this group. I've got a lot of work ahead of me, and a lot to learn about making the necessary improvements. This breed is proving to be so friendly and affectionate that I would much rather sell birds to someone who can use them than butcher them.

And now you have me as a future customer to buy 2 of them from you. I would rather buy mine from someone who lives here in AZ. to help them out. I would only buy out of state if I wanted something that I couldn't already find here.
