Arizona Chickens

How did they come to be abandoned? Were they at one property or just roaming around? In my profession, they would be charged with animal neglect/abandonment and charged a hefty fine. No critter should be left in that situation. Take them to some type of animal shelter/adoption agency and let them live out there lives and hopefully someone will take them. Evidently, they provided some type of enjoyment to their owners for a while, but they shouldn't be left to fend for themselves. After all, they are domesticated by us and depend on us for their safety and care. We owe them the right to live to what ever their end purpose may be.

Hi Bobby, Thanks for replying...

The people who abandoned them are long gone as they were renting. The chickens were fending for themselves for some time but I have managed to get them little by little over to my home. I am feeding them and they have fresh water. They roost in a tree at the side of my house.

I agree they deserve an appropriate environment and that is why I reached out to this forum. So far I have hit a roadblock for rescue groups so was wondering if anyone in this forum might have some suggestions or if anyone would be interested in taking some of them.

That is almost exactly how I raised them. You want it 95 degrees at first, under the heat. You might want to check it at the coldest time of day, like now! Right before the sun comes up in the morning I mean! Good morning!
Our overnight lows seem to be considerably warmer down here in Tucson, so I'm hoping the warmth won't be a big issue.

No I have not tried Craig's List yet. Honestly I was worried about somebody wanting the roosters for less than honorable reasons.

I will check CL out today... Thanks!

I don't have a problem with eating a chicken, they are raised for eggs/meat and/or companionship, but when you have those "Game Type" roosters, I would be a little concerned. Just look at them...they are absolutely stunning and striking, and it would be a shame to have them used for "less than honorable reasons." This has been going on for generations and, in some cultures, it is the norm. Between them and Pit Bulls, no critter should be exposed to such abuse. This type of activity still goes on in Arizona, and you can still be cited for just being present at such partaking.

Right agree Bobby that is what I was referring to, and why I shied away from CL :)
