Arizona Chickens

@alohachickens I'm sorry your project isn't expanding how you hoped my hubby and I thought your chickens are pretty, I wouldn't be able to breed any as I'm getting busy and caring for the few I have will be all I can do for now,

The desire to travel doesn't hold well to chicken owning, it is hard and it sounds like you are torn between the two. I hope your plans come together for you

View attachment 1193897 @Bobby Basham after two weeks I gave my chicks this stuff as their first treat. They are still addicted to it! It's from the feed store and has grit and chick crumble in it already, plus all kinds of goodies like worms, red pepper, oregano, and shrimp. In moderation, this is a wonderful chick-safe treat. I even think it smells good!
Thanks so much, SonoranChick, that's good to know. I don't wanna do anything to upset their little digestive systems. They will be two weeks old this weekend.

They still freak out when they hear my voice, and go running to the other end of the brooder. They stand quietly and look at me while I do the chores. Yes, they come running to my open palm, even with no food, but I never tried to lift one up and handle it.

@alohachickens, Is there any way you could expand your advertising? I know what Media you use, and a lot of folks have their own hatching and breeding efforts and can't afford to take on another project, but there's got to be some folks out there willing to take the challenge and expand your project. TOOT YOUR HORN and brag about your strain of chickens. Entice the folks and peak their curiosity about how rare this breed is.

I just sent one up to the All Mighty. DON'T GIVE UP!

luckily this wasn't near the chickens... anyone know how chickens deal with a huge tarantula? fight or flight?
Mine did not enjoy it when a huge tarantula came into the run...but the poor tarantula was absolutely terrified and quickely scaled the wall to get away. The Australorp alerted me with a loud emergency call and when I came out she was up front, ready to defend, while the others were huddled behind her staring in awe at her bravery :gig They are so funny sometimes. That was the day I realized how smart and savvy the australorp is!

Dina is not molting yet! That poor girl is still barebacked and giving eggs the only layer right now. It's funny I observe in this chicken family headed by Mr. Roo Bubu, that laying eggs is a huge deal to them. He often helps nest, he cries with them, and goes running to the hen that just announced her lay, I think for that reason Dina has opted to keep laying seeing how she's Roos number one gal and why lately Roo seems cross with a couple of the girls who are fluffily feathered and haven't layed yet lol :p
