Baby Chick Update!!

ugh, i'm confused as to whether I have Amercaunas or their look a likes, easter eggers.

The store said amercaunas, but i also heard that usually they are easter eggers and they like to classify them as amercaunas. Well either way I guess i'll know when i can better see the color of their legs and better yet the color of their eggs, easter eggers will be different colors, green, pink, blue depending on the bird and amercaunas only blue so we'll see..

One thing I can tell you so far these babies are much calmer at this age than my buffs were which i think i hear is a typical characteristic of them so that's cool.

Also I did a one by one feather butt inspection for pasty butt since nineteen is a lot and one had been bypassed during the first PB cleaning, and she was clogged, but quickly unclogged after we had cleaned her, so that was a relief.

I have a bit of trepidation for integrating, but I have a plan prepared and have lots of time to study up on things before that ever happens.

I'm also fearful of getting another Roo, since buying 19 ups that chance for sure, but we'll see, I suspect one already.

I think you said you got them from Shoppers in Chandler. Those are all EE in the prior batches. Mine that were labeled Ameracauna as chicks are now fantastic EEs:)

I couldn't see your video here, but I did see your pic of them in the Naked Neck thread. Congrats on your good hatch! :celebrate:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy
Ya, I wish you could just post a video here without having to link to it somewhere else. Not really into posting everything on youtube, and photobucket has gone to $4it.
I'll get better pics soon..

Yes, I know what you mean about photobucket. I used to play with paintshop pro and make graphics and signature tags for people. I still have the paintshop pro on this computer.

Are my 2 or 3 girls in that batch of chicks that you just hatched out?

Edit: I still have a friend that puts together those digital scrapkits too.

yes thats it exactly , one thing i found out about procrastination its actually a good thing & a process that can often help to reveal the flaws in our design, your dad was just like mine, improvising & using what was on hand when you couldn't or just didnt want to buy stuff, when you can do it just as good using what you have around, its even fun to see what you can make with the stuff you got laying around..! i also belong to this other group on BYC its called
Homemade V.S. Store Bought & all about DIY & selfficienchy & lots of great ideas..!

I'd say it's procrastination and cautious hesitation. My coop design has been modified at least four times, and while looking at them again yesterday and today, I found some details/steps that I overlooked, which could cause some issues down the road.

Back to the drawing board for a little tweaking. Oh, and I thought that Homemade vs Store bought forum was great and there were a lot of neat ideas on re-purposing stuff.

I think a person has to be inquisitive/curious (or nosy like me) to start with, asking a lot of questions and get those creative juices flowing. Knowledge of a few tools is a plus. It reminds me of that son (Noah) and the Alaskan Bush People.

My second hobby is bringing old electronics back to life. They were well made and seemed to last forever. Years ago, I took a stereo to a shop and they flat out told me they don't work on stuff like that. It really ticked me off, so I bought a bunch of electronics books and joined electronics forums and learned a lot over the past 20+ years.

Many parts are still available and not expensive, depending what you need. The biggest investment is your time. Most of my repairs were under $10 dollars.

They are a nostalgic piece of history and are making a comeback, and I'm fortunate to have several thousand vinyl LP's.

This is my next project that needs minor restoration and want to get rid of because there are twelve more in the house and a few out in the garage.

Everything seem's to be so cheaply made these days. They don't want to have to fix anything. Their object is to forever to get you to buy a new one. They make more money that way.

And if you do find a place that does repairs, be prepared for the Labor cost.

The dealership wanted to charge me $89.00 to install a $20.00 serpentine belt on my truck. Went home and did it myself, it's no worse than looping a film on an old projector.

Yes, and they will charge you for a full hour of labor, even if the actual job only takes 5 or 10 minutes.
