Arizona Chickens

Worked 4 hours today and then cancelled out.. my back is killing me. I did the chiropractor yesterday, he is normally very helpful, well, he made it worse. I have the day off tomorrow. I've done ice, got into the pool, done short painful walks, laid on my side.

I've got an appointment with a massage therapist who has helped in the past. I've got a full schedule on Thursday, half day on Friday and then I'm helping my son with his Eagle project.

If you pray, do you mind saying one for me? Please.

The cooler weather is rolling in. Earlier I could feel gusts of cool air. Accu weather says its 91, they are either wrong or a lot of my east coast friends who complain at 90 degree weather are wimps! I'm loving it and so are the birds!

Mahonri - You got it!

It feels wonderful out there this morning after that last stretch of brutal heat. I keep reading about temps cooling off in the states north of us and those colder temps can't reach here fast enough. It's a good day to plant the garden.

I live in Mesa. My husband was out for a walk and I was on the computer when I heard the rain start coming down. I ran outside to lock up the coop, so I wouldn't get super soaked doing it later. About 5 minutes after that, it stopped raining. Typical!

Hey gang..... need some help..... I have a BR pullet that is 27 weeks old. She started laying about 2 weeks ago. She is sweet and very beautiful. Problem is she is a talker!!! She is very vocal and we live in an HOA and have zero lot line clearance between houses in our area. I love her to death but can't take the chance on any complaints. Would anyone like to give her a new home? I would be happy to "give" her to someone that does not mind her singing or will trade for a couple chicks (females only!). Please let me know ASAP..... want to keep peace with the neighbors! We live in Mesa in the Dobson and Baseline area. Here are pictures.....

I just wanted to share a problem I discovered this morning: my coop has bed bugs. I posted about it here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=401627 I'm sickened by this revelation and I'm trying to figure out what to do about it. I thought I should share it with my fellow Arizonans since we have similar environments. I hope I'm the only one.

Sorry about the BR azmotogirl. She's a good looking bird, I hope you find a good home for her soon.

azmotogirl: I'm asking a friend about your chicken. She was just complaining that she only has white egg layers. Her chickens free range during the day on a couple of acres.

Gallo del Cielo: I replied to your post about bed bugs.

Mahonri: I hope you are feeling better today.

My chicks are doing great. The leghorns have tail feathers already which I think is a very good sign that they are pullets.

Prayers are working!

I can walk without pain now!

I should be able to put in a full day tomorrow.

AZmg.. I sent you a pm, I'll trade you for a RIR... hatched out July 4th.

Love that Super Harvest Moon as the Sun went down !!

I had a roller-coaster of a day yesterday. I discovered that the bugs in my coop are poultry ticks. Apparently, they are very common in warmer climates and especially in arid climates like ours. I posted what I learned about them here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=401831

Mahonri
