I know what you mean. It's hard to have to do, but it end's up being something that has to be done to keep peace in the flock, and the hen's from being over-bred and torn up so bad that it can kill the girls. I had 2 roosters and a cockerel before that needed being done, and had to pay someone $8.00 each to come here and do them so that I could watch them and learn how to do it myself. Now I have 4 more that need being done, but it's been so hot.
Edit: I noticed in another thread you were asking if you could put chicken hatching eggs under your broody female duck. I agree with what they told you there. What breed of chickens do you have?
