As long as they aren't breeding them! Haha! The thing went broody and I couldn't kill their eggs since they were already developing. I hatched them out, gave some to BellLisamo and then realized yesterday the same time she saw it on her chick that they have five toes. So I have a bunch of babies and two ugly mothers that need a different home. I have homes for the chicks, someone wants the poor ugly things.

Just call them organic, featherless, exotic, bolivian love parrots and I bet you get top dollar for them ugly babies

I had a friend that was terrified of chickens but she had never seen a bantam cochin or any feather footed breed for that matter. We thought it would be funny to put one of the bantam cochins in a parrot cage and present it to her for a christmas joke. We told her it was a bolivian love parrot and that it was very rare. I supplied her with ziploc bags of food for it for a year while she loved the snot out of it. Finally someone told her it was a chicken and not a parrot. I ended up with the bird back but I didn't expect it to take a year for her to figure it out

You would think her loving the snot out of it for a year she wouldn't want to give it back then! Crazy chick

My husband was terrified of chickens, still is pretty skittish, but he lets me have my hobby and even helps out feeding. Just won't touch them!

Yesterday I lost a duck.
I had 2 cayugas born back around Easter. They'd been living with my hens in a big fenced area for about the last month or so. My DH loves the ducks!!! He was heartbroken.
I never saw any indication that they were being picked on by the hens, but it sure does appear that the duck got plucked to death. There was a big naked spot on the duck's back. We found it in the water trough, which is usually where it hangs out.
Anyway, I'm on CL trying to get some more ducks....like today if possible. I can't let that one lonely duck hang out with the hens by herself. They need the buddy system.
Anyone have any or know of any full size, young ducks close to Tucson or Sahuarita?

Thanks!!!

"Bolivian Love Parrot" sounds like an indy band name! Tee hee!

And darn it if I didn't just whack my spare roos the other week. Hope the swap is a success - I'll try to make the next one (hopefully with a little more notice).

Can rabbits come, or is it just for chickens and Bolivian Love Parrots?

Thanx in advance

I need to give away some of my hens. At least 10! 3 of the 10 are already spoken for. Also have two leghorn roos. One is REAL noisy, but he is good with the hens.

I'm getting 5 to 7 eggs a day from the 10.

Give me a PM if you'd like to pick them up. First come, first serve.

Diamond doves were VERY difficult. They never would settle down or like to be held. More like finches in teh fact of being looked at but not handled. Finches are cute, but I like a little more interaction with my birds, not freaking out when I come around. I tried to hatch some courtnix and they ran around like crazy then keeled over! I don't know what happened, seemed healthy.

Of the three I would most likely do Quail, but I guess it depends on why? For entertainment purposes in a cage? I would do finches. For outdoor birds and possibly pickling eggs and meat, Quail. For the little cooing sounds and rarity the diamond doves.
