We got rain, or a flood :/ not sure which but the horse had more than 10 inches of water in his fed tub and it moved a lot of stuff around the property here. It washed over the culverts and took out part of the driveway. Chickens had a few inches of mud under the hen house too. Guess I will be searching for some fill dirt.

We got some rain over here, but not so bad this time. The electric stayed on!

We got a little rain earlier today and it really kept the temps down today. It was lovely outside, except for the mosquitos, who think I'm delicious.

I ordered my chick heat plate the other day and it should be arriving tomorrow! Chicks hatch in less than a month. And my husband, who was very clear that chickens were going to be MY project and he wanted nothing to do with them, is now getting excited about coop designs, and is embellishing on my minimalist plans. Yay! And I know those sweet teeny chickies will win him over once they get here.

We got a crazy lightening show last night, looked like a strobe light in the sky. It rained on and off all night, then light rain this morning. It was beautiful. Only got up to 92*, and it looks like more clouds are rolling in now!
@Geranium I'm so excited for you, your chicks will be here in no time! My husband was the same way- he just wanted to build them a nice coop and run and then eat the eggs and the rest was up to me. But he has definitely warmed up to being a chicken dad...there is nothing cuter than a bunch of baby chicks! It is so much better to raise them from a young age too, so they attach to you. You will open the little box and your heart will melt :)

Maybe if you let him name a few of the chicks, or at least a couple that he seem's to like the most, he will warm up even more to them?

My hubby was the same way. Now he loves them as much as me. He cleans out their cages feeds them takes phoebies out with him when he does yard work. I just can’t get him to put on or take diapers off.

And I’m getting another silkie tomorrow. A splash frizzle. I’m so excited. Need a good name.
