@igorsMistress well I don't have results yet! We laid the cinder block foundation last weekend, and this coming weekend we'll actually build it. Chicks will be 3 weeks old on Monday, so they'll go out at some point after that.

It's really fun to see all the different personalities of the chickens. My Buff Orpingtons are very, very sweet, and like to come over and sit on my lap when they're out, especially Agatha. She'll for sure be my lap chicken. My Austra White is very calm and confident and comes up to visit but isn't snuggly like Agatha. My Easter Eggers are very outgoing and adventurous. One of the EE, Amelia, has always been the smallest of the bunch, so it will be interesting to see if she eventually catches up, or if she'll always be the smallest. The australorps complain the loudest when I have to turn them on their backs for any reason, but they're mostly ok when picked up from underneath. They're quite opinionated though. One of them was protesting very loudly the whole drive home after I got them from the post office. They're not as friendly as any of the others - more independent than anything else. And now I am entering the period of weeks where I use my sheer willpower to keep their combos from turning red. Lol but for real. I'm so nervous about one of them ending up a roo, because I can't keep roosters.

I just moved my 4 chicks that hatched on Labor Day into the outside grow out pen in my run. They were 3 week's old this past Monday. I had been giving them wet chick feed to eat when they were in the brooder.

I have 5 of my 6 newly hatched chicks moved down into the brooder now, and will be feeding them the wet chick feed too. It seem's to be more easily digestible for those babies, and helps them to grow faster, I think.

I went through that fear too, just hoping that they were sexed correctly and no one was secretly a rooster. Mypetchicken does a really good job of sexing correctly, even though it is more of an art form and less of a science. If any of them do end up being males, they will give you a refund or send a replacement chick. And if you need to rehome a rooster, that feed store in marana (triple L) will take them for free. The owner has a big spot of land with lots of trees that he has designated for wayward roosters.
 
I let Picasso roam with the eggers tonight while watching them. Winnie challenged picasso, and Picasso challenged back, winnie is 4 times her size. Chest bumping occurred, I can't move much so my yelling occurred. Marshmellow good roo that he is came to stop it, Picasso realized she is still miniature and chose the flight option..running away. :lau
