No flooding around me either BUT I do have a super, super soft spot that will need some reinforcement of some type. Thinking of a bag or two of contractors sand. I'll keep thinking about it. Its where our canopy comes down and it drips off. Its really wet there from the rain. AND looks like more is coming. Nice and cool and the girls are wandering all over the yard instead of just under the shade! I love seeing that.

My chickies turned three weeks old yesterday! No pink on any combs thus far. Fingers crossed. Agatha is my sweetie lap chicken. Blue, Flower, and one of the Australorps also enjoyed some lap time. The last two photos, the gray one and the buff one, those might be cockerels. I'm looking at the early wattle development on them as a clue.

We got nearly another 2 inches at my house yesterday, but luckily it stopped raining in the late afternoon and began drying out. I really wish I'd been able to get a rainwater harvesting system installed before the monsoon season started. I think we got record rainfall at my house this year.

@DesertChic the gray one is my blue orp that I've been a little suspicious of. The buff is my sweetie Agatha and her comb looks just like the other BO's comb, so I'm hoping that means they're both pullets, or else someone was asleep at the wheel on chick sexing day at My Pet Chicken.

Question for you guys. Ellie, one of the Buff Orps, pecks quite hard, and it hurts. The others will occasionally peck at the tattoo on my wrist, or freckles on my arms, but it's just a little peck. Ellie pecks a lot harder. I brushed her off my lap when she'd peck, or flicked at her beak to dissuade her. Anything else I can do to help her learn that my tattoo isn't food?

I have a reaction of ow! I tell them no and just let them go if they don't stop, when they get older they won't pack as hard and soon learn not everything is food. I wouldn't flick them just have a reaction like they do when they get pecked

The new chick finally got loose of the last of the shell now, all the yolk was absorbed. It seem's to be doing ok in there. I'm still waiting on the last 3 eggs to hatch. I have 14 chick's over here now.

I read peppermint deters them from pecking at the babies or any citrus oil because they don’t like the taste
