Arizona Chickens

I got all of the wet wood chips out of the nest box. Now it's drying out and it will be refilled by tonight. Hubby still needs to fix the leaky roof but I don't anticipate any more rain in the next few days so I suppose I'll give him a break with the nagging :D It will get done. The wood chips in the run have dried out thankfully. Leave it to Mother Nature to dump near-record rainfall on us a week after I finally decided on wood chips lol! I just kept thinking, "monsoon season is over, we probably won't get rain for months"...WRONG!
On a sad note, we made the difficult choice to put our old dog down next Monday. He has been having seizures and is losing control of his bowels. He is not eating much and can barely walk. We know it is time, and he had a wonderful life. But it is still really difficult. We will be spoiling him lots until Monday.
@meetthebubus Hooray for Picasso! I'm so happy he has moved into the flock and is doing well.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I know how much it hurts to let them go, but you're doing the right thing for him. Hugs to you and your hubby.

Just make sure that you are there with him when you have him put down, so there is someone there that he loves to see him off, instead of just strangers.

I have my first case of wry neck in Matilda. She was fine on Sunday outside most of the day. Monday she was kinda quiet but I thought she was getting close to laying her first egg. Today I got home and picked her up to put her outside to clean their pen and she couldn’t hold her head up. Gave her some vitamins and bread soaked in electrolyte water. She fought me so still got some spunk in her. Ran to Walgreens and got selenium and vitamin E and gave her a dose of each. Going to check on her in an hour to see how she is doing.

Wouldn’t be bad but I’m going out of town from Friday til Wednesday and hubby is going with me. BlueBaby the sweetie she is would keep her but I think my son will be able to handle her.

Good thoughts and prayers please and thank you.
