@meetthebubus Both of those yard roo's are still out there. The big water bowl that I had out there for them was almost empty though. The rest of my flock (chicks included) are all accounted for. I'm going to give them a chance to eat some of the feed I just put out there, and then be taking them some left over lettuce and tomatoes from the boat races that weren't used up. So, that should make them happy!

The tree trimming became a part of his bd celebration so I'm kinda at the point that we don't do a tree (unless we have family coming) until the 21st. Other things get done, like cookies, fudge some inside outside decorating but the tree waits until the 21st. Outside I have a horseshoe tree that is about 4ft tall that I decorate and put on our porch. I also have some horseshoe reindeer that go with it. That usually goes up right after Thanksgiving.

In my parents' generation and tradition, the tree was decorated on Christmas eve. It was a forest cut (wild) tree. Did not have many decorations and no lights ether. This changed when I was 8 years old and we moved from rural to city. Would buy a tree about 2 weeks before Christmas and keep it up until Jan 6.
At first we were kind of surprised how many peeps threw out their trees day after Christmas. Not many, but some. It was more visible then since artificial trees were not as common as now.
I and my immediate family members all get real trees. Fraser Fir is our choice. I will get mine first week of December when selection is GOOD, but will not bring it into home until about 2 weeks before Holiday.
This was our tree from last Christmas.

Many of the decorations are things that my children made over the years in school and on their own. They are always a source of conversation when family gets together for Christmas dinner. :)

Some of my newest chicks are the white with some black scattered feathering in them. I'm working with the straight single combs though. I just culled another cockerel from that batch this morning. I'm not even going to be offering the young cockerels anymore, and the bigger yard rooster's would probably kill them anyways if I threw them out into the yard. If someone ever wants a roo from me they will have to holler before I cull.

I think they just learned from what happened to the other yard rooster's that used to be out there with them. They now know what predators that they have to look out for, and they know where to hide now, maybe?
