Arizona Chickens

@starri33 If you get addicted to hatching, you will end up like me... a hatch-a-holic! :lau
lol, I think hubby would make me take a sleeping bag to the coop.. I loved getting to watch them hatch, if I behave myself, I can do 4 hatch to coop bunches as year.. if I get to carried away, I'm going to have to build another coop.. lol, the one in process is 8' x 24 now

I'm going to have to be honest, I've been eye-balling a 48 count incubator.. right now, I have the janoel 12, but because of the size of the eggs, 6 at a time is the best I can do.

I was only able to a hatch of 6 once, and that was because at that time I only had one hen that was laying. She's a Splash Australorp that had been breed to a Crested Cream Legbar rooster. A bunch of my younger pullet's have been laying egg's too now. I have 2 Styrofoam still air incubators, and each one can hold 42 large chicken egg's.

@Michelle Guynn Congratulations - First place black Silkie girl! We knew that but now all of Tucson knows too!
@starri33 and that guestroom will be dusty in no time!! I made a lattice top for a kids play pen - a little larger for 6 at a time but they figure how to fly up to the top quick thus the top. This weather you will need heat outside for sure in your area. January could see you in single digits. Flagstaff has already been there. For sure watch the hatch-a-holic pixie dust - it'll be looking for ya!

That would get me in trouble, I bought the one with the auto turner so that I knew I had a chance that I'd not mess that part of the hatch up, my humidity bounced all over the place, but I managed to hatch.. am thinking about one of those humidikits, but then I managed without it and it costs like 130.00

I'm praying that we won't see single digits, 20 is cold enough. If I boot them out early, I will have to figure out a heat source, right now, the 6 I have now are sharing a tote that is about the size of a cattle trough, like they have them in at Tractor Supply. I'll have to split them up as they get bigger. or put them in our large dog crate out in the garage with a heat lamp.
