My sweet girl Ellie got some snuggles this afternoon while I was checking on Amelia.

Had a scary close call with my EE Amelia this morning. She managed to get over their fence into our backyard where my dog grabbed her. Aside from some slobber on her back and some ruffled feathers, she doesn't look like she was hurt at all by the dog. She has some small cuts on her legs, I think from the escape. Glad that I bought a bottle each of Vetrycin and BluKote when I got the chicks! Hopefully this will have satisfied Amelia's curiosity of escaping the chicken yard. They're 13 weeksView attachment 1612182 tomorrow. Are they old enough for me to clip wings if we need to?
Ahhh, I've finally reached the final post..Wasn't sure I was ever going too, got a question,I have a friend who has his incubator in his garage and he seems to be losing a bunch of chicks, they are stopping in the middle of the 21 days, anyone have a clue as to what might be happening? I asked about the heat in the machine, he's got foam surrounding it and says the heat is within range. I've shared information on sterilizing the eggs and his incubator.. asked about flock health and haven't heard back from him yet.. He doesn't restrict the breeds he has, so I figure like me he has mutts. my first hatch, 6 out of 6 are going to be 4 weeks on the 16th.. and they are doing great, I've got another hatch of 5 eggs going and just candled tonight and it's looking like I have 3 out of the 5 that I am 95% sure that I'm going to have chicks, hard to tell as they are light brown to medium brown.. the other 2 look to be not fertile.
he hasn't gotten back to me yet on that, he lives close by, so I will try and get over and see his set up.. I've offered after this next hatch gets done to get 6 of his eggs and try to hatch them, if they do fine in my little cheap one, then I will know either location/machine etc or his flock is having issues. I told him to bring his incubator in the house out of the garage.. Mine sits next to the sink in the kitchen and I move it to the guestroom/brooder room when they start hatching as the cats want to know what that cheeping is..lol..You said that his temp is ok, but what about the amount of the humidity in the incubator?
