Arizona Chickens

@BlueBaby aren't you trying for the x to be totally naked necked? I really enjoy the bibs on some of my girls and some have really distinctive bow ties. Right now Lady is minus bow tie with new feathers coming.
@SonoranChick I would make my coop boards/roosts a bit higher with sides on the droppings boards so I could put in sand and zeolite then use a kitty pooper scooper. This way it would be easier to put the outside access nest boxes in and have them more accessible in the coop area as well maybe. The other thought I had was putting the nest boxes on the other side of the coop with access outside for collecting eggs. I'm kinda short so the type nests that allow eggs to roll might be useful. I would also have open area coops with a system to put in panels for colder weather or storms. My NN girls love the open coop - but not right now so much - thank goodness they like to huddle!!
@Suzyqschickens funny, funny, funny. We used to have a leghorn girl that loved my hubby's shop. She would go in there and lay her egg, walk all around and talk with him then go back to the coop. Hubby got to where he put a towel on a chair where she laid the egg, extra bowl of water and extra paper towels as poop patrol!
Cold this morning here ...... still not real warm but great sunshine. Tomorrow much of the same. Keep warm and safe friends.

I’m thinking a human took your ducks. For food at just to be a jerk.

Life will be easier for you closer to town. You are moving closer and we are hoping to move out farther.

New peeps are doing good. I’ve had silkies that grow fast and some that grow slow. These are slow growers. I found 24% protein chick food for them but at almost two weeks still so little.

We are going to check out a lot with 3 acres on Monday. Hoping it’s suitable for what we want. That’s a lot of room for chickens.

@FeatherPugs Yes, I am working toward's having total NN's, but some will still have those bib's that you like on them. Right now I am getting mostly one's that have the bib's, but some also have the fully feathered neck's also.

@Michelle Guynn My chick's are on the 22% protein chick starter feed. Yes, 3 acres is alot of room for chickens and other thing's if you want them. I'm on 3 1/2 acres over here.

Well good morning everyone! I have to share a picture with everyone. My husband is not a fan of my girls at all. Yes he eats their eggs but only if I wash them for him. Sooo this pic just makes me laugh......:lau Roady my EE decided his toolbox would make a great place to nest! He was like umm come get this chicken!! My son and I laughed and laughed.
lol, I love it.. You could tell him that she approved of his tools ;)

7 month old Blue/Black splash Araucana cockerel $20.00

I will have a few green egg's hatching on Jan 8th, and some more mixed colored eggs will be due on Jan. 17th. I also boiled up 9 egg's and mashed 8 of them up, giving a whole egg to the dog and 1 mashed egg for the chicks in the brooder. The flock will get the other 7 mashed egg's mixed into a wet feed for them tomorrow.

Is everyone bundled up for the night? I'm just sitting here watching some tv. I fed my flock some wet layer feed, some chick starter feed added with the chopped boiled eggs in it for extra protein to help them to stay warm overnight.
Chicks and Chickens are tucked away, the men in the house are all in bed and I am not going to be to far behind them, I think this piece of sweet potato pie I made is going to put me into a sugar coma.
