Arizona Chickens

Do you want regular or organic?
The area feed stores that I know of are:
Higley feed at Higley and Williamsfield has O.H. Kruse Organic lay pellets. I don't know what brand of regular.
Mesa Feed Barn has Layena, no organic.
There's another feed store on just East of Higley feed on Williamsfield. I can't remember their name. They also carry organic.

If you want organic corn/soy free you have to order it.

I usually just go to whichever one is most convenient at the time for supplies other than feed. I order my feed.

Bob,

you're funny. you DO need bands! i've never seen so many chickens before and so many different kinds. i know you have a few dark brahmas! i'll help you band them if you can find someone to figure out what else you have in there.

betty is doing great. still laying, but not in the box. she insists on laying in my planter. she'll hold that darn egg in if she has to until i let her use that planter.

my 15 week old roo started crowing 2 days ago at 3:30 am. that's when the light in the coop turns on. i heard the noise and at first i jumped out of bed and ran to my 4 year old's room thinking he was having a nightmare because it was a weird noise. but no, it was just little black sambo learning to crow. please don't take offense at his name, he is a black astralorp and my kids named him since they love that book.

The phoenix will look similar to a Wyandotte chick except it will be slightly smaller and the markings will be shades of brown/tan. The hens are brown and very plain. The roosters are pretty colorful. The roosters get really long tail feathers. I think the average is upto about 4 feet in the US. The tail feathers are blood filled, so if one gets broken...its a bloody mess and you will swear your looking for a dead chicken.

You can post pics on the what breed am I section and see if anyone can identify the breeds. It was helpful to me with a flock I had.

I used to live in Maine and let me tell you..I much rather have the heat than the cold. Although I do miss being snowed in and losing electricity
